Just like the rest of us, Disney likes to partake in a little spring cleaning, and that means refurbishing some of its attractions and resorts.

In order to help you maximize your trip to Disney World (and to make sure you don’t show up at the PeopleMover, only to be disappointed), we’re here to keep you posted on these closures! Today, we’re bringing you a refurbishment update on all the attractions scheduled to be closed from March 22nd through March 29th, 2021.
Animal Kingdom Refurbishments
Kali River Rapids
Kali River Rapids has been closed since January for refurbishment. Winter is the season when Disney typically performs maintenance on its water rides since demand is lower due to the colder temperatures.

It’s expected to reopen on April 3rd!

Walt Disney World Railroad
It’s been more than two years since the Walt Disney World Railroad has been operational, so it probably comes as no surprise that you’re gonna have to wait a little longer! While construction on TRON: Lightcycle Run continues, it’s blocking the railroad track around the park.

The railroad likely won’t reopen until TRON is far enough along to clear its construction. Disney has yet to confirm an opening date for TRON, so it’s pretty unclear as to when the railroad will run again!

Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover
Alas, another week in Disney World without the PeopleMover! The Tomorrowland attraction has been M.I.A. since March 2020, and its reopening has been scheduled, umm, un-scheduled, multiple times! We recently got super excited when we saw it in motion, only to learn it was just a Cast Member pushing it. Womp womp.

The PeopleMover is now scheduled to reopen on April 4th. Fingers crossed that it finally happens!
Here’s What We Know About the PeopleMover!
The Hall of Presidents
The Hall of Presidents is temporarily closed in order to install an audio-animatronic figure for President Joe Biden. This is a routine process that takes place after each new president is elected, so no surprises here.

Disney hasn’t announced when the show will reopen, but we’ll keep you posted as soon as we know more!

Swiss Family Treehouse
The Swiss Family Treehouse closed on March 12th for a quick refurb, and is set to return soon!

It’s due to reopen this week, on March 26th, so we’re not expecting massive changes. Of course, we’ll let you know if there are any updates.

Disney World Resort Refurbishments
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort continues to undergo a ton of work. The entryway, lobby, and monorail station are all being refurbished. The most exciting update, though, is that the rooms are also getting a tropical Moana makeover, which Disney recently revealed in a sneak peek. The hotel is currently taking reservations for this July, so we’ll only have to wait a few more months to see them in person!

In pool news, the Kiki Tikis Splash area at the Polynesian is closed for refurbishment until the end of March. While over at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, the Big Blue Pool is still closed for construction through early April.

We’ll keep you posted with more pool news!

That’s a wrap on this week’s refurbishment update! We’ll be back with more news soon!
