4 Life-Changing Announcements for Disney’s Hollywood Studios in 2025

It’s going to be a big year for Disney’s Hollywood Studios!

Entrance to Hollywood Studios

Disney World is at the very beginning of a very long renaissance that will see it transform over the next several years. Disney’s Hollywood Studios is going to see a lot of that transformation itself, meaning we’ll be getting some highly anticipated additions while losing some beloved attractions. There’s a lot to keep track of, but we’ve got you covered with four announcements that will permanently change the popular Disney theme park.

First up is a positive: some new shows are coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios!

While a new Villains Land gets installed over at Magic Kingdom, guests can be entertained by Disney Villains right here at Hollywood Studios!

Replacing Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy, Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After is a new stage show that will debut this summer on Sunset Boulevard.

The show will feature dastardly favorites like Captain Hook, Maleficent, and Cruella De Vil as they perform live. The stage will also transform into the “mysterious, reflective realm of the Magic Mirror”, providing plenty of spectacle for fans young and old.

The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure

The next show debuting this summer is The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure!

Voyage of the Little Mermaid was its predecessor pre-pandemic and plans to replace it have been in the works for quite some time.

The new show promises to be a retelling of the Disney animated classic film with a combination of live actors, puppets, digital animation, and live motion capture. The show will also feature “Daughters of Triton” and “Kiss the Girl”, two songs that weren’t included in the original stage show.

We’re incredibly excited to see these shows debut and are ready for the next chapter of live entertainment at Disney’s Hollywood Studios!

Muppets Courtyard

With all that said, there are some unfortunate closures on the horizon. While we’re excited to see a new Monsters, Inc. Land come to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, it’s coming at the expense of Muppets Courtyard.

Eventually, the courtyard, along with Muppet*Vision 3D will be permanently closed to make way for the new land. Construction is expected to start in 2025 and we’ll update you with closure details as they’re made available.

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster in its current Aerosmith state is also on borrowed time. The Muppets will be moving from Muppet Courtyard to this attraction to create a brand-new rockin’ theme.

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster

According to Disney, “To make way for the monsters, Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy and more of their friends will be moving right along to Sunset Boulevard! But there’s more to the story: The Muppets will be taking over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, teaming up with some of music’s biggest stars for a rockin’ music festival!”

An official closing date has yet to be announced but we’ll keep you posted when it’s been made available.
