*sigh* It’s time to talk about it.
I’m right there with you all mourning the loss of Muppet*Vision 3D in Disney’s Hollywood Studios now that the new Monsters, Inc. Land will be taking its place because it’s a loss of history, but I have to be honest with you all. Yes, I’ll miss Muppet*Vision 3D, but y’all — PizzeRizzo is ALSO going away, and I’m DEVASTATED.
I know, I KNOW it’s controversial, but I said I’d stand by my love for PizzeRizzo no matter what and I meant it. Many people dislike this quick service restaurant because it serves up classic theme park food, namely puffy pizzas that are nothing special.
But that’s just one of the reasons I love it so much! I mention it all the time, but I’m a very picky eater, and so I often choose the more “generic” and “plain” options in the park because many of other options have options that are a little too advanced for my palette or make me nervous about trying them for the first time when I’m on vacation. Genuinely, the puffy cheese pizzas at PizzeRizzo are some of my absolute favorite options to get in the park when I’m craving something simple.
Not only that though, the theming in here is truly unlike any other. I mean, it’s owned by a rat, yes, but Rizzo is a rat with TASTE. All over the restaurant you’ll find nods to Rizzo himself and the other Muppets, and of course, we can’t forget about the infamous Wedding Room (actually called Rizzo’s Deluxe Supreme Banquet Hall) upstairs where you can have dance parties and relish in the cool vibes.
Oh, also, can we talk about how much SPACE there is in this restaurant? There’s a massive downstairs section, an even larger section upstairs, PLUS outdoor seating on both levels. You can almost always find a seat here (and an INDOOR seat at that), which is a big win in my book.
However, there is good news here that I’m holding onto — in Disney’s concept art of the new Monsters, Inc. Land, it looks like this restaurant building is staying in tact, and may just be rethemed to a new Monsters, Inc. quick service restaurant. And listen, I’m looking forward to seeing what this new restaurant will be regardless…but BOY am I hoping puffy pizza sticks around.
And listen, I understand puffy pizza is over at Pizzafari in Animal Kingdom as well, but it’s not the same! Even if it’s the exact same recipe, it doesn’t feel like it. Maybe it’s just that the vibes are so different, but regardless, we’ll be in a puffy pizza drought in Hollywood Studios for quite some time (potentially forever, depending on what the menu is at the new Monsters, Inc. location).
So, if you need me, I’ll be dining here every single chance I get until it closes in the future to soak it all in. At this time, we don’t have a timeline for when the closure of this land can be expected, but we’ll keep you updated so stay tuned to AllEars!
