8 BIG Changes Happening in Disney World in May

Summer will be here before we know it, and that means things are heating up in Disney World.

We’ve already seen some pretty high temps in the parks, so if you’re thinking about heading to Disney World before summer really kicks in — you’ve come to the right place. There is so much to see and do around the parks and resorts, and we’re sharing some important dates you might need to know!

Ongoing: EPCOT Flower & Garden Festival

That’s right — you still have time to check out the EPCOT Flower & Garden Festival, because it will be going on through July. Take in the sights, sounds, smells, and of course, EATS at this festival. There are dozens of food booths to sample cuisine from, not to mention those gorgeous topiaries.

Buzz Lightyear by Mission: SPACE

You can also check out some sweet tunes thanks to the Garden Rocks Concert Series, and if you’re feeling fancy you can even book a dinner package!

Ongoing: Disney 100 Celebration

The 100th Anniversary of the Walt Disney Company has come to Disney World! We’ve spotted a few signs and upgrades to the decor around the parks, and you might even find some festive treats.

The 100th Anniversary has arrived!

We’ll be keeping an eye out for more 100th anniversary snacks, merchandise, and decor throughout the parks — so be sure to stay tuned.

May 1st and 2nd: Fantasmic! Closed

Heads up if you’re heading to Hollywood Studios in May as there’s an important showtime change you need to know about!

Fantasmic! will be closed for a brief refurbishment on May 1st and 2nd, but it will reopen on May 3rd. Make sure you check the My Disney Experience app on the date of your visit for the most updated info, but we’ll let you know of any changes.

May 4th: Star Wars Day

While Disney hasn’t made any official announcements about Star Wars Day in Disney World, we typically see some sort of special offering on the day. It might be food, or even special character appearances like the Mandalorian and Grogu!

 

Head over to Galaxy’s Edge in Hollywood Studios to really immerse yourself in Batuu and the Star Wars world. Stay tuned for any more announcements about what you might be able to experience.

May 11th and 23rd: DVC Moonlight Magic

Disney Vacation Club Members can take advantage of exclusive After Hours events in the parks! On May 11th it will be held at Hollywood Studios.

On May 23rd, you can catch DVC Moonlight Magic at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park!

May 14th: Akershus Breakfast Returns

Guess what?! Breakfast is returning to Akershus Royal Banquet Hall in EPCOT! Characters returned some time ago, but the restaurant was only serving lunch and dinner. That’s all changing on May 14th!

Not only will breakfast be back, you can also expect to intereact with your favorite Disney princesses, too. Reservations are open now, so make sure you book yours if you want to experience this royal affair.

May 20th and 27th: H2O Glow Nights

Looking to make a splash on your trip? Head over to Typhoon Lagoon Water Park on May 20th and May 27th for an afterhours event! H2O Glow Nights is a separately ticketed, after hours event at Typhoon Lagoon.

May 25th: Minnie’s Summertime Dine Begins

Right now, over at Hollywood & Vine in Hollywood Studios, you can experience Minnie’s Springtime Dine character meal. But, that’s changing on May 25th so that we can welcome Minnie’s Summertime Dine! Reservations are available now for this character meal, you book yours when you can.
