You’re NOT READY For Summer in Disney World, But We’re Here To Help.

Summer is coming to Disney World, are you sure you’re ready?

Magic Kingdom Crowds

Disney recently announced new summer hotel deals for Annual Passholders, Florida Residents, and some for everyone. Summers at Disney World can be crowded, hot, and rainy — but don’t let it ruin your trip. We have some advice for you to still have the best vacation you can!

Here are some of our expert tips for you to have a great summer vacation at Disney World!

Dress the Part

In the summer in Florida, you want to dress comfortably. Breathable fabrics, light colors, and moisture-wicking clothing is a good start. This will help you beat the heat a little better. You’re also going to want to make sure you’ve got comfortable shoes — and don’t make the mistake of breaking in a new pair in the parks. Trust us, we’ve been there.

If you are planning on wearing shorts or an athletic dress, you might experience chaffing due to the humidity in the air.

We recommend keeping an anti-chaffing balm, like this Body Glide, in your park bag to help eliminate any discomfort.

And speaking of the humidity, that’s caused by the high chance of rain daily in the summer.

Instead, we recommend buying a reusable poncho ahead of time and stashing it in your park bag, like this Portable Rain Coat 2 Pack.

If you’re visiting Disney World in the summer chances are you’re going to run into some storms. You could wait and buy a poncho in the parks, but they’re expensive and overall uncomfortable.

Hydration

It can be very easy to get dehydrated in the parks during the summer due to the heat and all of the walking you will be doing. It’s important to start hydrating early in the day and continue doing so. We recommend getting a refillable water bottle, like this Collapsible Water Bottle. This one would be great to easily store in your park bag while not using.

Most quick-service locations provide free water cups so fill up your bottle with those and ice to make it more convenient.

Take Breaks

It can be hard to slow down at the parks and not try to cram in as much as possible, but in the summer, it’s necessary to take breaks. This will give you the energy you need to keep going while also giving yourself a break from the sun.

Animal Kingdom

Go see a show indoors like Festival of the Lion King at Animal Kingdom or The American Adventure at Epcot. These shows will provide you with comfy seats in the AC and give your body a rest.

While you might think sunscreen is a given item to pack, don’t forget the aloe vera as well! Sometimes we forget to reapply the sunscreen in time and then we’re burnt! To help with that, pack some Aloe Vera like this one from Amazon.

This one is small and can easily be thrown in your park bag.

Also, between the amount of walking, you will do and the humidity, you might develop blisters. These can be a real pain throughout your trip. Pack moleskin like this one from Dr. Scholl’s on Amazon.

We recommend downloading a weather app to your phone before your trip. This can give you rain alerts ahead of time to give you a heads up to get out that poncho.
