EPCOT may appear to have the least amount of construction going on at first glance, but there IS a lot happening that’s changing how people are experiencing the park.

Test Track is set to reopen this summer with its new look and experience, GoofyCore at Communicore Hall is taking place this summer and bringing fun games and activities for kids, and there’s a whole new lounge that just opened! With all these changes, there’s a new dress code we’ve noticed Disney Adults following that you may not want to miss out on!
With the opening of GEO-82 in the park, which is the new Spaceship Earth Lounge that’s only for guests 21+, there are now MULTIPLE dining locations in the park that are considered more fine dining or “fancy” meals.

While GEO-82 is a lounge, there are lots of upscale menu items (both food and drinks) available for purchase, putting it on par with other restaurants like Le Cellier Steakhouse, Monsieur Paul, and Takumi-Tei.

Takumi-Tei and Monsieur Paul have a dress code saying that “Guests are expected to dress accordingly in attire that adheres to the restaurant’s sophisticated and upscale aesthetic.” For a theme park, that means they prefer something like jeans and a nice shirt, a dress or skirt, and they’d likely be okay with jeans and an decent shirt. They do confirm no swimwear though, which isn’t what we recommend wearing to the theme park to begin with.

While GEO-82 doesn’t have a dress code — you can walk in there in regular theme park attire with no issues — we’ve started to see lots of people decide to dress up just the tiniest bit if they’re planning to head to a dining location in the park, or if they have an Advanced Dining Reservation that day.

Now, we see this most often with groups that are only Disney Adults, or families that are traveling with older kids, rather than those traveling with younger kids, and the outfits are still theme park appropriate in the way that they’re not uncomfortable to spend the day in. Other times though, people choose to go back to their hotel room to change before their reservation, especially if it’s later in the day.

Are we saying you NEED to do this if you plan on visiting GEO-82 or EPCOT as a whole? No, absolutely not! It’s more important for you to be comfortable during your theme park day, especially if returning to your hotel room/accommodation isn’t an option before your reservation, but just keep those two dress codes in mind if you have those reservations confirmed.

Would you dress up for a dining reservation in EPCOT? Tell us in the comments!
We always have in ANY Disney fine dining. It’s always been something we’ve seen that just ruines the experience when we’ve been to dinner at California Grill. We take the time to dress up to that experience and hate seeing a woman with a bathing suit cover all on with a guy in a tank top, baseball hat, shorts and flip flops seated next to the window.
Hold a second, we are talking a Theme park here or a Boardwalk with casinos?? Let me say this, when we visited Epcot, and believe me we were there when it was just a monorail stop with TV monitors. ( yes that long ago, check for yourselves) I with my kids dressed appropiately for the Brutal Orlando Heat or seldom cold dressed to have fun, i.e. shorts, tees, kids when little, same thing. We celebrated B’days in Canada, Japan, we ate Chinese, French, even love the Germany pavillion, and the Mexican rest. NOW here comes “dress accordingly” so on top of what 125.00 per day per person, just to enter a Theme park. we are expected to wear collar’d shirts and jeans like we are eating at the Captains Table on Love Boat??? Better back this one up a little bit, I mean a lot……I may be a great grandfather, but I’ll spend my money as I see fit, and if Epcot thinks I need a three piece suit to enjoy sushi with a saki, in a restaurant, well maybe there are other places to go.
