We have all been there before; it can be tempting to buy ALL the souvenirs at Disney World, and trust us, we are huge fans of shopping (especially for Disney merchandise). Still, you will want to avoid buying these five souvenirs during your vacation.

Buying Disney-Branded Ponchos

Rainy season is upon us in Central Florida, and during the summertime, it can rain quite a bit at Disney World. Don’t fall for the trap of purchasing a Disney World poncho; instead, come prepared and bring your own poncho!

Rainy days are common in Disney World! Don’t forget to pack your poncho.

The ponchos that Disney sells are expensive (albeit cute with the Mickey on the back) and can tear. Our team loves to bring in this Frogg Toggs Poncho because it is packable, breathable, and 100% waterproof.

Bringing a Refillable Mug Into the Parks

Rapid Fill Mugs can be a good value if you plan on going back and forth to your resort’s refill station. The problem with these mugs is that they cannot be used in the parks. You can take them to other resorts, but they will pretty much be useless in the parks. If you bring your mug in filled, you will be stuck with a sticky and bulky mug to carry around all day.

Instead, consider bringing in a reusable water bottle. There are free refill stations throughout the parks, and most quick service locations offer free ice waterWe like to bring our Owala water bottle with us as it keeps our drink cold all day.

It’s a great water bottle!

Buying Bottled Water

Speaking of water, since you now know to bring in your own water bottle, we highly suggest avoiding purchasing bottled water in the parks. The price of bottled water has increased at most locations at Disney World. Instead, remember you can refill your bottle for FREE around the parks. If you must purchase bottled water, we suggest doing so in a gift shop as Disney discounts like Annual Pass and Disney Vacation Club can be applied.

Bottled water is NOT cheap in Disney World

Buying Bubbles to Refill Your Bubble Wand

We won’t lie; we are not really fans of bubble wands as is, but we know that they can be super fun for a child! When you purchase your wand, it will come with bubbles, but once it runs out, you will have to purchase your next batch. Disney does sell refill bottles in the park, but plan ahead and bring your own bubbles with you in the event you need to refill them as they are way cheaper than buying them in the parks.

Buying the Disney World Misting Fans

Not only does summer typically mean rain, but it can get steamy in Florida! When you are walking around the parks all day, a fan and cool mist sounds so nice. Disney World does sell the iconic blue and yellow misting fans in the parks, but as you can probably guess, they are expensive!

Instead, you can bring your own misting fan with you for a fraction of the cost! We like this one because it is handheld and less bulky.
