Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort was the first-ever moderate resort at Disney World. Over time, we’ve learned the harsh reality of staying at this resort.

This resort has undergone some refurbishments in recent years, and for many Disney guests, it is a great value. But we’re sharing some harsh truths if you stay at this hotel.
No Elevators
The resort is broken up into separate buildings that have two floors. However, it is important to note that these buildings do not have an elevator. So yes, that does mean you will need to carry your luggage up the stairs if you have a room on the second floor.
Now, the hotel does have wheelchair-accessible rooms, all of which are located on ground level. However, guests in standard rooms will need to climb up and down the stairs each time they leave their room… or return from a long, likely hot park day.

It’s Big
The Caribbean Beach Resort’s grounds are LARGE. While this does mean that there are some beautiful views around the property, it also means a stay there usually involves a lot of walking to reach common areas and transportation. This can especially prove to be an issue for those with mobility issues, as some of the resort’s paths are made up of hills and uneven sidewalks.

The Skyliner
While the Skyliner is seen as a positive for many guests, there are some downsides to it. The Skyliner is easily affected by the weather. During the summer months, there can be several thunderstorms, which can cause the Skyliner to pause operations. When this happens, they do run a bus route, but that still can affect your day.

When the Skyliner is working, the line in the mornings for rope drop can get long! If you’re trying to take advantage of Early Theme Park Entry or have a breakfast dining reservation to make, you will want to head to the Skyliner early to get ahead of the crowds.

Multiple Bus Stops
The resort has six bus stops throughout the resort, and while that’s helpful for the large footprint of the hotel, it can also be a negative. If you are heading to a Disney World park or somewhere else on property, the buses can fill up and can leave you waiting longer than you planned.

The Pool Can Get Crowded
The Caribbean Beach Resort is home to one of Walt Disney World’s more elaborate feature pools: the Fuentes del Morro Pool. Themed after a colonial Spanish fortress, the pool area offers 2 waterslides, man-of-war cannons, a shipwreck play area, and more.
This pool area is so popular that occasionally, usually during busy times, guests are required to present proof of stay at the hotel and wear a wristband to access it.

Now, all of this is to say that there are still great reasons to stay at this resort, but these are just points to keep in mind before booking your hotel. For more Disney news and tips, be sure to follow us at AllEars.net.
