It is no secret that planning a Disney World vacation isn’t cheap.
However, there are LOTS of money-saving tips that will help you plan your Disney World vacation for the least amount of money.
We turned to some of our favorite Disney World experts, our readers, to see what their best money-saving tips are over on our Facebook page. You all delivered with some great tips and we can’t wait to share them with you.
Stock Up on Gift Cards
This was by far one of the most popular suggestions! So many of you recommended stocking up on discount gift cards from Target, BJ’s, Sam’s Club, or Costco. Tim suggested you “use your Target Red card to buy Disney Gift Cards” and you will “save money right away doing that.” Jan also agrees and picks “up a gift card once a month” from Target, Costco, or Sam’s Club.
Stocking up on discount gift cards ahead of time is a great way to start saving before you even get to Disney World. Plus, it can be helpful to make sure you don’t overspend during your trip by limiting yourself to only spending the money on gift cards.
Don’t Impulse Buy
While you are at Disney World make sure you aren’t impulse buying. There is SO much that you can buy from souvenirs to snacks. AllEars reader Emma suggests that you watch your spending and try not to make impulse purchases.
She shared her rule of thumb when at Disney World, “If I see something super cute/cool, I have to walk away for at least an hour. If I haven’t thought about the item within that hour, then I don’t need it.”

Share Meals or Order a Kids Meal
Lots of Disney World experts also recommended sharing meals or opting for a kid’s meal. Both Charlotte and Alicia agreed that sharing meals can be a great way to save money. “The portions are huge” and Alicia even brings “a ziplock bag for all those chicken tenders.”
If you would prefer not to share meals but are looking for smaller portions, many readers suggested ordering off the kid’s menu. Sarah says that they order “kids meals at quick service. Saves money and the portions are plenty for an adult.”
Readers Tina and Jean also agree that kids meals are a good value and are a decent serving size.

Bring Your Own Food
Another way to save money at Disney World is by bringing your own food or ordering groceries to be delivered. Rick suggests packing “a lunch, snacks, and drinks. Bring convenient breakfast food for your room that will not only save a lot of money but time. You will be surprised that a freshly made sandwich will taste much better than quick service food.”
Jessica also agrees saying to “bring your own breakfast food or have it delivered so you can eat breakfast in the room before heading to the parks. Saves time and money. Justin wrote that he orders groceries and has them delivered to the room.
Having groceries delivered can be a great way to save money while at Disney World. We highly recommend using Kroger Grocery Delivery — we tested it ourselves and found it super easy and convenient! Food can get expensive and having some cheaper options available can be a huge money saver.

Take Advantage of Free Water
While you are in the parks, make sure you take advantage of free water. Shawn wrote that “instead of buying water bottles, carry a reusable one or get the free cups of ice water from the counter service locations.”
You can use the My Disney Experience app to find all the water bottle refill locations or you can stop into quick service locations for a free cup of ice water. This can save you lots of money from buying water bottles throughout the day.

Skip the Park Hopper Option
Johnny has a couple of tips for saving money at Disney World. He wrote that “you can never see it all and trying to is exhausting and a fools errand. Plan for pool days, skip the hopper option and you will enjoy yourself and most importantly your family. It will be cheaper and you will want to return.”
There is so much to see at Disney World, and sometimes taking things slower will be the best way to enjoy everything the resort has to offer. Skipping the Park Hopper option and only focusing on one park per day can definitely save money, and make your trip more relaxing. Plus, building in rest days or pool days will not only save money on park tickets but will also provide a much-needed break for your group.
