6 Rides You Can’t Depend on in Disney World Anymore

No matter how much you plan, you can’t always depend on everything going right on your Disney World trip.

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train

That’s especially true when it comes to rides as they can break down for any number of reasons, which can seriously put a damper on your day. Some rides tend to shut down more than others, though, and these are the ones you just can’t depend on right now.

We took a look at some of the rides in Disney World that have been temporarily closed a significant number of times over the past month or so. If you’re heading to the parks soon, you might not want to count on these rides.

Pirates of the Caribbean

We know how disappointing it is to hear, but it’s the truth — Pirates of the Caribbean has been having some issues lately. In fact, it’s been closed more often than other rides in Magic Kingdom — over a dozen times so far this month, and we’re not even two weeks in.

From what we’ve seen, the ride has the most trouble in the morning and sometimes doesn’t even open up until the afternoon. If you can’t visit Magic Kingdom without visiting Jack Sparrow, make sure you keep an eye on the My Disney Experience app for the latest info.

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster

Hollywood Studios’ problem child is at it again — Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster has been closed 14 times just 10 days into the month of October. This ride breaks down frequently, and when we’ve asked Cast Members in the past, we’ve been told that it hasn’t received a full update in years.

We think it’s probably about time for a refurbishment, but we won’t be looking forward to any more closures — temporary or permanent!

Rise of the Resistance

It’s probably no surprise to see Rise of the Resistance on this list. It’s been having problems since it first debuted in Disney World, and often temporarily closes for hours at a time.

It’s been closed on average almost two times per day in just under two weeks — certainly something to keep in mind if you’re trying to plan a visit around this experience. We’ve been told that the trackless ride system is what makes this one prone to breaking down as it operates via Bluetooth.

Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway

Another ride that operates via Bluetooth just so happens to be another ride that has broken down quite often lately. Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway has had a whopping 14 temporary closures in just 10 days.

When it comes to this ride, we don’t see it down for quite as long as Rise of the Resistance, but it’s still something you’ll need to plan for if it’s on your to-do list.

Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure

It may not happen quite as frequently, but Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure has closed 10 times so far this month.

This ride uses trackless Bluetooth technology too, but hasn’t been having as many issues as the other attractions like it — at least not lately!

Test Track

Fans may be upset about the upcoming Test Track retheme, but the 15 temporary closures it saw over the past week or so point to the likelihood that it just might need it.

Ride closures can happen on your Disney World trip, but the important thing is that you’re prepared for the possibility. Keep an eye on the My Disney Experience app for the latest info, and remember that there’s plenty to do in around the parks!
