Changes Coming to 2 Disney World Attractions and a Restaurant, According to NEW Permits

It’s no secret that Disney World is different from day to day, but this time of year we see those changes roll out like a freight train.

Halloween in Disney World

Magic Kingdom and the other parks begin to transform to prepare for the Halloween seasonHalloween is coming soon, but that’s not the only exciting change on the horizon. New permits show just what’s on the way for the future of Disney World.

We may be excited about spooky season in Disney World, but we’re also looking forward to more changes that are happening around the parks and hotels. We keep an eye on recently filed permits (specifically, Notices of Commencement) to get an idea of what work might be started in Disney World soon!

Magic Kingdom

In Magic Kingdom, we spotted a permit for the “installation of scenic items” at an address that looks like it matches up with Fairytale Garden. This is the home of the former Merida meet and greet, which Disney had previously announced would be transformed into a Mirabel meet and greet instead.

From what Disney has shared, it sounds like they might be turning this spot into La Casita from Encanto. We know that there will be “whimsical decor inspired by La Familia Madrigal.” So far, construction walls have gone up and we’ve been able to spot some equipment, but we’ll be keeping an eye out for more changes.

EPCOT

Over in EPCOT, we found a permit to “install marquee and signage” at an address that matches Traveler’s Cafe — the old Starbucks by World Showplace. This spot has been closed for quite a while, and it’s been recently spruced up with some new paint. A little birdy told us that a new food location would be coming soon, and we think we know what it could be.

A new EPCOT Food and Wine Festival booth?

Disney released the map for the 2023 EPCOT Food & Wine Festival, and from what we can tell, the new Swirled Showcase booth looks like it might be here! We’ll keep an eye out and let you know of any updates.

Another permit filed recently was for the“installation of scenic items” at an address tied to the Imagination Pavilion — where you’ll find everyone’s favorite chaotic purple dragon, Figment.

We’re not quite sure what “scenic items” refers to exactly, but we do know that Disney had previously announced a new meet and greet with Mickey and Minnie in their 100th anniversary outfits here! Not only that, but a while back we learned that a Figment meet and greet would also come to the pavilion sometime this summer.

Blizzard Beach

Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park has been closed since earlier this year (after briefly reopening) and it appears as though Disney is taking this as an opportunity to do further refurbishments. We spotted quite a few permits that were recently filed for various work around this park!

Most of them were for “carpentry work,” like at the Double Dipper Water Slide, Toboggan Racer Slides, Melt-Away Bay, and more. This could mean we’re in for more of an extended closure than we first realized.

We’ll be sure to keep up with the latest updates and more permits from around Disney World, so stay tuned to AllEars for more!
