Today is a BIG day for Disney World, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios in particular!
Not only is it the kickoff of Cool KIDS’ SUMMER and the opening of The Walt Disney Studios land with the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live! show, but it’s the grand opening of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets. And fans are excited to shop the ride’s new merchandise…but there’s one problem!
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets has been a hot commodity today, with lines long enough to be rerouted through backstage areas this morning when it opened. But if you’re hoping to shop the new souvenirs themed to the attraction, you may run into some problems.
Rock Around the Shop is the ride’s gift shop, and it’s not a large space. It’s accessible from outside the attraction, but with an influx of people exiting, it can create traffic flow problems if too many folks are trying to go into the shop at the same time.
Likely because of traffic flow, Disney has closed Rock Around the Shop to those who aren’t disembarking the attraction on May 26th. This means that the only way to shop the merchandise inside the gift shop will be to ride the attraction…or at least, wait in the line.
The good news is that there is still some Muppets-centric merchandise inside Once Upon a Time, the store inside the replica of the Carthay Circle Theater on Sunset Boulevard. Some of the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets collection is available in here.
You won’t get the same spread of souvenirs in Once Upon a Time as you get in Rock Around the Shop, but there’s at least a decent selection of Muppets items.
Cast Members were doing some light crowd control in this store on opening day, so you may have to wait in a short line to get inside if it’s particularly busy.
We know that fans are SERIOUS about their Muppet merch!
