9 CLOSURES to Watch Out for in Disney World This Week

Disney World is going through a lot of changes right now, with big construction sites in both Magic Kingdom and EPCOT. We’re excited for the upcoming TRON: Lightcycle Run ride in Magic Kingdom, and EPCOT is working on a new Moana-themed attraction. Other changes include the upcoming MagicBand+ release, new snacks, and some restaurant reopenings.

Let’s go to Disney World!

Although there’s a lot to look forward to, sometimes those changes can mean that existing attractions and rides have to CLOSE for a while. So right now, we’re taking a look at everything that’s going to be closed in Disney World this week, from July 24th through July 30th.

Magic Kingdom Closures

Walt Disney World Railroad

The beloved Walt Disney World Railroad has been closed in Magic Kingdom for YEARS now, and it still doesn’t have a reopening date. Disney has been pretty quiet when it comes to updates about this attraction, although we have seen some train testing in the park.

We miss the train!

Construction on the upcoming TRON: Lightcycle Run roller coaster has interrupted the train tracks over in Tomorrowland, which means the train can’t run its usual course right now. We have seen a tunnel in that area, which is likely for the train to pass through once it does reopen.

Disney hasn’t announced an end date to the TRON construction, but we’re not expecting the Railroad to reopen until that project is completed. We’ll be sure to let you know if we hear anything about the Railroad or TRON!

Enchanted Tales with Belle

Enchanted Tales with Belle is an attraction where guests can meet Belle and help her tell the story of Beauty and the Beast. The attraction has been closed for a long time, and Disney still hasn’t announced when it will reopen.

Enchanted Tales with Belle

Right now, Enchanted Tales with Belle is scheduled to be closed at least through mid-September, which is as far as Disney’s refurbishment calendar goes at the moment.

Pete’s Silly Sideshow

Pete’s Silly Sideshow is a location in Storybook Circus where guests previously could meet Minnie, Daisy, Donald, and Goofy. Unfortunately, it’s still closed right now. Disney has said that it’ll reopen sometime “in the coming months,” though!

You can find a lot of characters in Magic Kingdom, like Peter Pan, Jasmine and Aladdin, Snow White, and Mickey and Minnie Mouse. And catch even more Disney friends during the parades and cavalcades in this park.

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique

This princess and prince salon is closed for all of this week, but Disney has announced that it’ll reopen next month on August 25th.

Note that Disney hasn’t announced a reopening date for the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutiques at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort or Disney Springs — the August reopening is just for the Magic Kingdom location.

Harmony Barber Shop

Harmony Barber Shop is reopening soon! Although it’ll be closed for all of this week, it’s going to reopen on July 31st.

If you want to visit, you can book your reservations now to get a haircut here once it’s open. The price for haircuts has gone up since it was last open, so keep that in mind.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios Closures

Fantasmic!

This popular nighttime show is still closed in Hollywood Studios. Although Fantasmic! has reopened in Disneyland, it still doesn’t have a specific opening date in Disney World. Disney has announced that it’ll return sometime this year!

When the show reopens in Disney World, there will be some updates and changes, including new effects, characters, and stunts.

Voyage of the Little Mermaid

Voyage of the Little Mermaid is another show that’s been closed for a long time in this park. It’ll continue this closure throughout all of this week.

Voyage of the Little Mermaid

Disney hasn’t given any updates about this show, so we don’t know yet when or if it’ll return.

EPCOT Closures

Canada Far & Wide in CircleVision 360

EPCOT is currently hosting the Food & Wine Festival, which will last through November 19th of this year. There are all kinds of tasty eats at the festival at more than 25 different food booths.

Food & Wine Festival

One of those food booths — Appleseed Orchard — is located inside the Canada Far & Wide theater, which means the movie can’t play right now. Instead, you can get an apple crumble tart or try some apple cider!

We’re expecting Canada Far & Wide in CircleVision 360 to remain closed throughout the festival.

Disney Water Park Refurbishments

Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park

Disney hasn’t announced a reopening date for the Blizzard Beach Water Park, but guests can currently visit Typhoon Lagoon Water Park instead, which is open now.

Melt Away Bay at Blizzard Beach

With very hot weather in Florida, it might be a good idea to plan a water park day or at least some time at your hotel pool in order to cool off during your vacation.

Although several rides and attractions are going to be closed this week, there are plenty of things to see and do in the parks! You can visit the new Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind roller coaster in EPCOT, or meet characters in Magic Kingdom.

Hi, Snow!

If you’re hoping to get on more rides without waiting very long, consider buying Genie+, which allows you to skip the standby line at certain attractions. This perk costs $15 per person, per day, and you’ll use the My Disney Experience app to make Lightning Lane reservations at the attractions you want to visit.
