Holiday Storytellers (2010): Pictures and Videos – Part 1

The Holiday Storytellers in Epcot have become a wonderful, must-see, tradition for me. Each country around the World Showcase has a very talented storyteller who shares the holiday traditions in his or her country with all that gather around. The Storytellers are entertaining and sometimes quite comical but always tell a story to help get you into the holiday spirit.

Even the countries that don’t celebrate Christmas have storytellers. They tell of similar holidays, and their traditions, that are celebrated in their countries; such as New Year’s, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and Ramadan.

It’s important to pick up an Epcot “Times Guide” as soon as you enter the park. The times for Storytellers are listed on the back. It’s not easy to see all of the Storytellers in one day, but with careful planning, and a lot of walking, it can be done. Unfortunately the times are not set up so you can just walk from one country to another and listen to the stories.

Without further ado, here are a couple pictures from each pavilion along with a video of the Storyteller. I’ve included a brief description taken from the Holidays Around The World Guide.

Mexico Pavilion: “Celebrate with Los Tres Reyes Magos, the Three Kings as they tell of their journey to the Posada and traditions today.”

Times: 1:45, 2:35, 3:30, 4:05, 4:45, 5:30, 6:30, 7:30 PM. *

Norway Pavilion: Meet the storyteller Sigrid who will tell you of the mischievous Christmas Gnome, Julenissen.”

Times: 3:10, 3:50, 4:30, 5:10, 5:50, 6:35, 7:17, 7:55 PM. *

China Pavilion: “Watch the agile Monkey King weave his tall tale with twists and turns celebrating Chinese New Year!”

Times: 12:10, 12:45, 1:30, 2:15, 3:20, 4:00, 4:50, 5:50 PM. *

Germany Pavilion: “Listen as Helga tells the story of the first Christmas tree and the tale of the first Nutcracker.”

Times: 1:00, 2:00, 2:55, 3:55, 5:30, 6:05, 6:40, 7:15 PM. *

Italy Pavilion: “Visit with Italy’s good Christmas witch La Befana as she remembers the Epiphany and her first Christmas 2,000 years ago!”

Times: 1:00, 2:00, 2:40, 3:20, 4:20, 5:20, 6:00, 6:45, PM. *

American Adventure: “Christmas – Whisper your Christmas wishes in Santa‘s ear. Even Mrs. Claus will be there!”

Times: 1:30 to 2:40 PM, 3:30 to 4:40 PM, 5:30 to 6:40 PM, 6:30 to 8:40 PM.

Note: No video for this as this is a meet Santa opportunity and not a storyteller.

American Adventure: “Kwanzaa – Experience the spirit of Kwanzaa, a celebration of family, creativity and community.”

Times: 12:20, 1:05, 1:50, 2:35, 3:20, 4:05, 4:45, 6:00 PM. *

American Adventure: “Hanukkah – Discover the connection of today’s Hanukkah tradition and the story of the brave Maccabees and the lamp that burned miraculously for eight days.”

Times: 12:15, 1:00, 1:45, 2:25, 3:25, 4:00, 4:50, 5:45 PM. *

* Please note that, except for the times for Santa, the times posted are from the Times Guide for Nov. 28 – Dec. 4, 2010. The times may or may not change from week to week so please pick up a copy of the Times Guide as you enter the park.
