UPDATE: Universal Orlando did announce a closure for September 28th and 29th, and issued a statement following the storm.
In anticipation of Hurricane Ian, many preparations are underway to gear up for the storm.

A state of emergency was issued for the state by Governor Ron DeSantis, Orlando International Airport is closing, and Disney World is implementing its own closures and changes. So…what about Universal Studios Orlando?
Currently, Universal Orlando has not announced any closures. They released a statement on their Twitter account.

If you find yourself at Universal Studios Orlando during a hurricane, you’ll want to be aware of their Severe Weather Policy:
In the event that a hurricane or tropical storm warning is issued by the National Hurricane Center or a state of emergency is declared for the Orlando area or in your place of residence, within seven days of your arrival, you can contact our team in advance to reschedule or cancel your Universal Parks & Resorts Vacations Package, hotel room only accommodations and Universal Orlando theme park tickets booked directly with Universal Orlando, without any cancellation or change fees imposed. If you have purchased airline tickets as part of your Universal Parks and Resorts Vacations package, you may still be subject to cancellation and change fees assessed by those airlines.

If you’ve bought Universal Orlando tickets or services through third-party suppliers, you’ll need to contact the seller directly to see what their cancelation or change policies are. Keep in mind, the policy does not apply to “certain special events, dining experiences or group related bookings.”

So, if you’re headed to Universal Orlando this week, keep this policy in mind. And here’s some other important hurricane information:
- Orlando International Airport is closing due to Hurricane Ian
- Disney World has announced cancelations and closures for Hurricane Ian
