A MAJOR Lightning Lane Problem Is Coming to Disney World

If you’re planning a trip to Disney World this holiday season, we’ve got a little heads-up for you!

Christmas in Disney World

While you might already expect long lines, high ticket prices, and that Mickey-shaped pretzel costing a small fortune, there’s one thing that could be quietly sneaking up on your wallet — Lightning Lane prices. It’s looking like the cost to skip those insane ride lines could be going up for the holidays

Let’s be real. Everything in Disney World seems to get more expensive during the holidays. Whether it’s the cost of park tickets, hotel stays, or even a turkey leg, Disney knows that the holiday season is prime time for visitors. With all those festive decorations, special parades, and the undeniable magic in the air, people seem more than willing to splurge.

As we were saying, Lightning Lane, which already has a bit of a love-hate relationship with Disney-fans, could be next on the holiday price hike hit list. If you’re familiar with Disney’s surge pricing, you probably won’t be too surprised to hear this speculation. The holidays are when Disney sees massive crowds, and with so much demand, prices have a tendency across the board tend to rise.

What’s Lightning Lane Again?

Quick refresher for those new to the game: Lightning Lane is Disney’s paid option that lets you skip the regular line for a ride. You have two options with this service: Lightning Lane Multi Pass (LLMP) or Lightning Lane Single Pass (LLSP). Some attractions like Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance or Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind require you to have a LLSP just to cut the line.

The price for LLSP can already fluctuate depending on how busy the parks are. On a slow day, you might be able snag a Lightning Lane for a popular ride for $10 or $15. But during peak times, like weekends or summer, those prices can jump to $20 or more. And let’s be real, if you’re hitting the parks during the holidays, we could easily be seeing those prices climbing even higher.

The Holiday Price Jump

The thing is, Disney hasn’t confirmed any specific holiday price hikes for Lightning Lane just yet, but if history tells us anything, it’s that we should be prepared.

With park tickets sometimes hitting $189 per person during the holidays, it wouldn’t be shocking if we saw Lightning Lane prices creep into the $25+ range for certain rides. After all, when the parks are packed, everyone wants to skip the line, and that means Disney can charge more for that privilege.

What Can You Do?

If you’re planning to visit during the holidays, the best advice we can give is to set aside the budget for it. Keep in mind that Lightning Lane prices might be higher and factor that into your vacation costs. Alternatively, you can also strategize by booking rides during off-peak hours or even taking advantage of early morning or late-night ride times when lines might be shorter.
