Disaster can strike at the most unexpected moments in Disney World, but if you’re prepared, you can SAVE your trip from being ruined!

Bring your own snacks!

Okay, yes, maybe this sounds a bit dramatic but we’ve all been there. The clock hits 12PM in Disney World (where did the time go?!), and you and the family suddenly realize your stomachs are grumbling and within seconds it hits you — you’re STARVING. Okay, let’s place a mobile order, right? Oh no…the next pickup time for the place you want is an HOUR from now?! Your screaming little ones (and grumpy old ones) can’t wait that long. You could have avoided this entire crisis by doing one key thing…bringing your own snacks!

Bringing Snacks Is KEY

Bringing your own snacks to Disney World really is a game-changer. First, it can definitely help you save some cash. Eating applesauce that you packed from home (or got from a local grocery store or grocery delivery) will undoubtedly be cheaper than the $5 cupcake you could buy in the parks.

And, depending on just how many snacks you bring or how substantial they are, you could use them as a full meal (especially for breakfast) and save some serious cash that way. Or maybe you fill up on a big breakfast, use your snack for a quick lunch, and save up that cash for a nice dinner.

But, aside from the budget help, bringing your own snacks can help prevent hunger disasters from striking. Whether that disaster is forgetting to place those mobile orders until it’s too late, getting stuck in a really long ride line and then realizing you’re starving, or even just keeping little kiddos (and adults!) entertained (and full) — a snack could be the easy solution you need.

So, let’s take a look now at 5 snacks you’ll be SO glad you packed with you!

The Snacks You NEED

We kick things off with a VERY versatile snack — Smucker’s Uncrustables Frozen Peanut Butter & Grape Jelly Sandwiches! They can serve as a quick pick-me-up between meals, a full-on breakfast, lunch, or dinner for a picky eater with a smaller appetite, or a snack to share between a few in the group.

These are frozen so just remember that you’ll need to defrost them according to the package instructions, but usually, if you throw them in your bag at the start of your day, they’ll be ready by the time you get hungry! You can get a 15 count for $13.99 at Target.

Next, we have a classic — Pepperidge Farm Goldfish! These can please some very picky kiddos and adults alike, plus they have real cheese and come in easy-to-pack snack bags.

You can grab 12(!) lunch packs for just $5.99 from Target, making these much cheaper than many snacks in the parks.

If you want something that has a more “adult”-type feel, consider picking up the KIND Minis Dark Chocolate & Caramel Almond snack bars. These have it all — they’re mini (great to pack), are 90 calories each, have 3g of sugar, and come in a variety pack so you’ll get 10 bars of each flavor (changing snack flavors up can stop them from being boring).

Note that the chocolate and caramel on these can make them a melting risk, so consider packing them next to something cool or eating them earlier in the day (or just being careful what you pack them next to in case they start to melt). You can get this 20-bar variety pack for $15.29 from Target!

Love a good trail mix? Then why not try the Cashew Cranberry Almond Trail Mix from Target?! This one comes with dried sweetened cranberries, raw almonds, and cashews.

The package itself is 30oz, with about 27 servings per container (each serving is 1/4 cup). The calories are 160 per serving, and each serving has 3 grams of fiber.

The 30z mix is $12.99. Pick up a few baggies to pack it in (we’ve got links to some below!), and you can leave the container in the room but fill up your bags each morning with the trail mix to snack on throughout the day.

Another good snack to have with you is the GoGo squeeZ Applesauce! What makes these so park-friendly is the fact that they are in on-the-go containers. No need for a spoon — you can just slurp it straight from the bag (making it kind of fun for little ones too).

So Good for the Parks!

The variety pack comes with 3 different flavors — your standard Apple Apple, along with Apple Strawberry and Apple Banana.

And that’s our list of some of the TOP snacks to bring to Disney World, but we’ve got a few more tips.

Be CAREFUL!

Keep in mind that some snacks can cause you trouble (especially depending on how you pack them). Here are some snack packing tips:

  1. Do NOT bring unsealed drinks or cups in your bag — that includes cups with lids that easily pop off! Always make sure the cups you pack have lids that seal tightly and will stay in place.
  2. Skip the suuuuper melty snacks or just be sure to eat them sooner rather than later (or keep them next to something cool to prevent/slow down the melting).
  3. When it comes to crunchy snacks, be sure to pack these toward the top of your bag or in harder containers so they don’t get crushed at the bottom of your bag and fill it with crumbs.

How to Get the Snacks

There are several options to get snacks to your hotel when planning a Disney trip. First, you could bring them with you, which could be an easy thing if you’re driving to Disney World. But if you’re flying, you may not want to waste valuable luggage space on food.

If that’s the case, know that you can stop by a number of grocery stores in Orlando on your way from the airport to Disney. Publix tends to be a big grocery store chain for Floridians, but you’ll also find snacks at Target, Walmart, and other locations near Disney. You could get to these grocery stores via rideshare, personal car service, or rental car. (There is a Target nearby at Disney’s “secret” shopping and dining complex.)

Another option is to get groceries and snacks delivered to your hotel! There are a variety of services that do this including Instacart and Garden Grocer. See our full page here about getting your groceries at Disney World!
