Well, maybe a vacation isn’t part of your summer plans this year. Between gas prices, COVID-19, flight cancelations, and the heat, there are a lot of reasons why travel could be difficult this year. And, to see how gas prices are affecting vacation plans, we asked our readers to weigh in!

We’re starting on a more positive note, and sharing why our readers said gas prices won’t affect their summer travel plans! For some, it was all about perspective, as one reader said “gas in the US is still cheaper than the UK.” Another agreed and added that he used to drive in Europe, “so these prices aren’t the worst I’ve seen.”

Other readers acknowledged that the prices are pretty bad, but are adjusting plans slightly to compensate. For some, it just means fewer trips, with one reader saying the gas prices won’t keep them from going, but they won’t go “as much.” Another said they’re balancing it out by “dropping a few table service reservations!”

For some, the prices will definitely be affecting their summer plans. One reader said they’ll be skipping their Florida trip this year, and be “waiting until fall,” as “gas prices will be better by then.”

Another reader said, “Yeah, August road trip just got canceled.” We also got a comment that said even their “short, 1-day trips have been canceled.”
