Disney's NEW Hollywood Studios Attraction Just Took a Major Step Toward Opening

A new show is coming to Hollywood Studios next year!

The Voyage of the Little Mermaid did not re-open in Hollywood Studios after the parks re-opened in 2021. In 2023, it was announced that a brand new Little Mermaid show called The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure would take its place and open in the fall of 2024. Well, fall rolled around, and as expected, Disney pushed the show’s opening date back to the summer of 2025. It seems like the show is starting to pick up speed now as construction walls have been up around the Animation Courtyard, permits have been filed for the show building, and Disney is now looking for puppeteers for the new show!

If you have ever wanted to be part of the cast of a stage show at Disney World, now is your chance. Disney is currently posting that they are looking for puppeteers for both the Festival of the Lion King in Animal Kingdom and The Little Mermaid—A Musical Adventure in Hollywood Studios.

Online submissions are open now through October 27th. In order to audition, you need to be between 5’2” and 6’3”. If you are interested in applying, you can do so here.

The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure

The new Little Mermaid show is not the only new addition coming to Hollywood Studios in the summer of 2025. Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy recently closed earlier this month to make way for a brand new Disney Villains stage show! Just like the new Little Mermaid show, no opening date has been announced, but it is exciting that Hollywood Studios will be home to even more live entertainment!

Currently, you can see Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular!, Fantasmic!, Beauty and the Beast Live on Stage, and For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration.
