3 Ways the New ‘Little Mermaid’ Stage Show Will Be Different in Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Did you hear the big news?

Voyage of the Little Mermaid

If you’ve been staring at Voyage of the Little Mermaid in Disney’s Hollywood Studios and wondering why the heck it’s been essentially abandoned for three years, you’re not alone! But that’s not the case anymore — a NEW show will be moving into this space, and we’re here to tell you what differences you can expect to see.

The Name

Now WAIT, don’t get mad at us yet. Yes, we know the name change seems obvious, but it’s really not! It’s very easy to confuse Voyage of the Little Mermaid (the old show) with Under The Sea – Journey of the Little Mermaid (the ride in magic Kingdom), and now there’s the NEW show with a NEW name!

The new show will be called The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure” and the old show, Voyage of the Little Mermaid, will officially be retired for good! Does all that make sense? Alright, perfect, moving on!

A New Song

While the new show will still be inspired by the animated version of the film, there will be a new song added — “Kiss The Girl!”

Yes, “Kiss The Girl” was not a part of the old show (wild, right?), but in this new version of the show, it will be included. Other iconic songs from the movie, such as “Part of Your World” and “Poor Unfortunate Souls” will still be part of the show.

A New Set

The show itself will also be getting a new “bold new design that captures Ariel’s imagination and emotions through her unique view of the world around her” according to Disney.

We’ll also be seeing new set pieces and new stage effects! We personally can’t wait to experience this new show, but we are going to have to wait a little while. This new experience is expected to open in Fall of 2024.

  1. In addition to the bubbles, I hope they keep the laser waves on the ceiling and the rain. The Voyage of the Little Mermaid was one of my favorite Disney Studios attractions. I’m glad they’re bringing back this updated version to a park that cannot afford to lose its relatively sparse attractions.
