Planning a Disney World trip is no easy feat.
That’s especially true when you realize that you have to keep track of all sorts of closures — whether it’s restaurants, rides, or even the Disney Skyliner. An iconic Disney World ride is undergoing an extended closure in 2024 and we officially have a reopening timeline.
We recently shared that Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster in Disney’s Hollywood Studios will be CLOSED for refurbishment beginning January 8th. When we checked the Disney World website, the 8th is the last date for which we see operating hours — though at first, we didn’t know how long the closure would last.
But, that has now changed thanks to an update on the Disney World website! There is now a message stating that Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster will be closed for refurbishment through summer 2024 and will reopen sometime during the summer.
This is a much longer closure than we originally thought it might be based on what we’ve seen in the past. When the ride was closed for refurb earlier this year, it was only for a few months — through early April. The same was true back in 2022 when we saw a similar closure for the ride.
Interestingly, the 2023 ride reopening was quite a surprise — opening in May after Disney had originally announced it would be closed through summer. It’s possible we could see something similar happen this time around!

What’s your favorite Disney World ride? Tell us in the comments.
My favorite ride is RocknRoller Coaster and we go to WDW in February for the races every year, so this will be year #2 without my favorite ride. This better not become an annual closure thing. Starting to wonder if our happier Disney days are behind us.
So I take it that we’re not being given a returning, eh?
