We say this all the time, but ensuring that you have the BEST Disney World vacation possible really does come down to two things.

One: preparing and doing research ahead of time. Two: managing your expectations based on the preparing you just did. A big part of that research is checking for ride and attraction closures. Yes — Disney World rides often undergo lengthy refurbishments to keep them operating smoothly and safely. Typically, Disney gives plenty of notice so that folks aren’t entirely disappointed to find their favorite ride closed as soon as they show up to the park. Speaking of closures and fan-favorite rides…
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster in Disney’s Hollywood Studios will be CLOSED for refurbishment beginning January 8th. When we checked the Disney World website, the 8th is the last date for which we see operating hours.

This is one of the Disney World attractions that seems to undergo a few more refurb closures compared to others — probably due to the complexity of the track and the work needed to ensure the track stays smooth and that the ride doesn’t scramble your brains when you ride. (IYKYK. It’s a real head-banger for sure. Ba dum tsssss.)

As of right now, Disney hasn’t shared when the ride will re-open. We’ve seen Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster closures that last for a week, and we’ve seen Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster closures that last for months.

So — what can we expect from this closure? Well, with the loss of one ride in the park, you can probably expect the wait times at the other rides to slightly increase as the crowds go elsewhere. No biggie — just be prepared!
