Today is the day!

TRON Lightcycle / Run has been in a soft opening phase since late March. We got to ride it during earlier previews but now the ride is officially OPEN! And while all of that is tremendously exciting, there’s one particular video about this ride that has us VERY PUMPED.
April 4th marked TRON’s official opening date. As of today, TRON Lightcycle / Run is officially open to the public.

To mark the occasion there was a ribbon cutting, and it got cut with an identity disc (of course!).

Yeah, it doesn’t get old.

Want to get on TRON in Magic Kingdom? The only way to ride is through the virtual queue or by buying an Individual Attraction Selection (pay-per-ride) for the attraction. In other words, there is NO regular standby queue.

Make sure you’re ON TIME to your return time/boarding group! We’ve found that TRON is not nearly as lenient if you’re late as other virtual queues have been, and Disney even added an important notice to their website today to really drive home that point.

Looking for more TRON info? Here’s what you need to know.
If you want to shop for TRON merchandise, be on the lookout for a pop-up shop at the old Stitch’s Great Escape attraction (you’ll also find merch in some other spots). Note that a virtual queue may be used at certain points. And remember there’s a special TRON interactive experience available too.

Read our step-by-step guide to the TRON virtual queue here. Note that virtual queue spots fill up quickly, and remember to be on time!

Want to buy an Individual Lightning Lane for TRON? That price will vary but on its opening day, the price was $20 (the same price it had been during the soft opening). That Individual Lightning Lane becomes available at 7AM for Disney World hotel guests and at park open for all others.

Don’t forget to stop by the front of the ride to snap some photos, and be sure to smile for your on-ride photo and video. You can also check out some TRON PhotoPass lenses to really put yourself into the experience.

There are lockers that you’ll have to use to get on the ride — read our guide to the lockers here.

Don’t forget there is a NEW stack stand near TRON so you can enjoy some savory and sweet treats there after an epic ride.

On its opening day, we also spotted some TRON-themed treats at the Main Street Confectionery.

These may only be a special item offered on the ride’s opening day so be sure to check and see what’s available during your visit.

Are the TRON ride seats uncomfortable or restrictive? We’ve got the TRUTH about them here.

Be prepared to do some waiting in line to hop on this coaster (even after grabbing that virtual queue spot) as it is brand new and could be quite popular for a long time.
