Your Credit Card Points Can Get You A Stay at THIS Disney World Hotel

There’s no shortage of hotels to choose from at Disney World Resort.

Swan and Dolphin

From Value Resorts to Deluxe Villas, Disney World offers accommodations for nearly every budget and vacation style. But there’s one popular hotel option on Disney property that many guests don’t realize comes with an extra perk — the ability to book your stay entirely with credit card points.

If you’re a Marriott Bonvoy member, you may already know that you can redeem points for free hotel stays at Marriott properties around the world. What many Disney fans don’t realize, though, is that those points can also be used for a stay right on Disney World property at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin hotels.

Swan and Dolphin

That’s because, despite their location in the middle of Disney World, the Swan and Dolphin hotels are not actually owned by Disney. The Michael Graves-designed resorts originally operated as part of a joint venture between Disney, developer Tishman, insurance company MetLife, and Starwood Hotels and Resorts. After Marriott acquired Starwood in 2016, the hotels began operating under Marriott’s Sheraton Hotels and Resorts brand.

The Marriott Bonvoy program itself launched in February 2019 after Marriott combined its three loyalty programs: Marriott Rewards, Ritz-Carlton Rewards, and Starwood Preferred Guest. Today, members can redeem Bonvoy points for stays at the Swan and Dolphin while also earning points during their visits.

Some of the BEST Disney World Restaurants Are HIDING at This Hotel

Typically, a night at the resorts costs somewhere between 40,000 and 60,000 Marriott Bonvoy points, although pricing during busier travel seasons can climb as high as 80,000 points per night.

Guests who hold Marriott Bonvoy credit cards can rack up points even faster. Depending on the card tier, new cardholders can receive a large welcome bonus after approval. After that, points can be earned through everyday spending, including:

  • Up to 17 total Marriott Bonvoy points for every $1 spent at participating Marriott Bonvoy hotels
  • 3 Marriott Bonvoy points per $1 spent on the first $6,000 in combined annual purchases at gas stations, grocery stores, and dining
  • 2 Marriott Bonvoy points per $1 spent on all other purchases

I’m Sorry, Are We Just Going to IGNORE This Game-Changing Hotel Perk in Disney World?

Dolphin Hotel

One of the biggest advantages of staying at the Swan and Dolphin is that guests still receive several Disney hotel benefits despite the resorts not being Disney-owned. Guests staying there qualify for Deluxe Resort perks, including:

  • The ability to book Lightning Lane selections seven days in advance
  • Early Entry to Disney theme parks
  • Extended Evening Hours at select Disney parks
  • Complimentary Disney transportation
  • Access to on-site and online Disney ticket purchases
