The Rules for Shopping for TRON Merchandise in Disney World

After several years of waiting, TRON Lightcycle / Run officially opens on April 4th in Magic Kingdom! Though Disney has held previews for the ride and even surprised us with an early soft opening — the official opening day has finally come. And to make sure you’re prepared, we’re sharing everything you need to know about TRON merch and how to get it!

TRON Lightcycle / Run officially opens in Magic Kingdom on April 4th, and that means a whole lot of merch will be available then, too! We’ve already seen a few sneak peeks and looked for ourselves, but now we’ve got a better idea of how the shopping experience will work — and at first, not everyone will get the chance to shop.

When TRON opens, only certain people will be able to shop inside the newest merch location — Tomorrowland Launch Depot.

Not only that, but Disney must be expecting high demand, as additional registers and TRON merchandise will be available at Star Traders. We headed over to take a look at the setup ahead of the ride’s opening.

We knew that once TRON Lightcycle / Run opens, guests will find merchandise in a specially designed pop-up shop area directly across from the Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor entrance in Tomorrowland — located around Stitch’s Great Escape.

To shop here, guests will need to enter a Virtual Queue via My Disney Experience. A Disney World Cast Member confirmed this information for us, but didn’t share any details about what time the queue would become available.

Disney previously shared that there would be a NEW experience coming to Tomorrowland Launch Depot (formally Tomorrowland’s Power & Light Co) where guests can customize a “Program” action figure that looks and sounds like them, along with an identity chip that will interact with other merchandise as well. Folks with reservations for the TRON Identity Program can shop!

According to the Cast Member we spoke with, anyone who has a Virtual Queue to ride TRON will be able to shop here.

We’ll have to wait and see exactly how the Virtual Queue for the pop-up shop at Stitch’s Great Escape will work, but as soon as we have more details we’ll share them with you.
