If you’re planning a Disney World trip this year, you’re going to want to mark these dates down.

This year at Disney World has been a year of closures, to say the least. Each of the four parks has seen at least one attraction close, if not multiple. Well, we hate to tell you that there are MORE temporary closures coming! Let’s take a look at the details.

Disney just announced two closures coming to Disney World. One of them is in Magic Kingdom, and the other is in EPCOT. Thankfully, both closures will be temporary refurbishments — so don’t click the panic button. That being said, it’s unfortunate when you can’t experience something because it’s not open. Let’s look at what’s closing and the dates to be aware of!

At Magic Kingdom, Under the Sea – Journey of the Little Mermaid will be temporarily closing on July 21st. This will be a routine refurbishment for the attraction, and it won’t take long. The expected reopening date is July 26th — so it looks like for five days we’ll have to wait to be part of that world!

This one may sting a bit, because we love us some Spaceship Earth! The iconic attraction is also going to be closing for a routine refurbishment. When you think about how often attractions are run, it makes sense that they need a routine refurbishment — especially the older rides like this.

Spaceship Earth will be temporarily closing on August 25th, and this refurbishment will take longer. As of right now, Disney does not have a reopening date for the attraction. However, Disney did confirm it’s scheduled to reopen later this year. Hopefully, we don’t have to wait too long to thank the Phoenicians.
Also, we want to emphasize that Disney confirmed the ride is closing for a routine refurbishment. Many fans have been holding out hope that the previously announced (then later revoked) plans to overhaul Spaceship Earth will resurface…but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

That’s not all. Disney also revealed that Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin will close on August 4th to begin working on the updates, which were previously announced. When it reopens in 2026, it will feature a new character named Buddy, target upgrades, handheld blasters, and more.

Refurbishments are always tough, but they’re necessary. They keep the rides we love up to date and make sure they keep going strong. We’re always looking out for breaking Disney news, so make sure to stay tuned to AllEars for more!
