Not all Disney World rides and attractions are created equally.
And that’s okay; sometimes you have to have the bad rides to appreciate and enjoy the good ones more. Just kidding! Everyone is totally allowed to have their opinion on their favorite, and well, in this case, least favorite ride or attraction at Disney World.

The Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor is located in Tomorrowland in Magic Kingdom. This attraction allows guests to visit the Laugh Floor, where a variety of monsters tell jokes in order to collect laughs from the audience. Laughter is what “powers the city.” This show is interactive, and the audience gets to respond. And some guests will even have chance to get their faces up on the screen. It can even be some people’s goal to finally be chosen to be “That Guy” during the show.
Well, one reviewer has strong opinions about the Laugh Floor and left a three-star review of the attraction. They said that the Laugh Floor is “good for A/C, a break for the parents, and short lines. I was overall disappointed! The Monsters, Inc. movie is a very creative one, and the potential is incredibly high if Disney put more thought into it! I would have loved to walk through the bedrooms or go on a ride through Monstropolis! For how much you pay to go to Disney, it’s disappointing. The show was just a filler. So sad. Not really funny either.” They went on to say that the show was not creative, had bad jokes, fell flat, and did not hold their kids’ attention.
Ouch, that is not what stand-up comedians or, in this case, monsters want to hear! In all seriousness, we think this reviewer was ahead of their time as after this review was posted, Disney shared that Monsters, Inc. would be getting a much bigger role at Disney World!
At D23: The Ultimate Fan Event in 2024, it was revealed that a Monsters, Inc. Land would be coming to Hollywood Studios. Initially, we learned that the land would be home to Disney’s first ever suspended coaster, where you will get the opportunity to ride among all the doors in the Monsters, Inc. building.

Since the initial announcement, we have gotten a new piece of concept art and now know that the land will replace the current area where Muppets Courtyard is. Muppets Courtyard will begin a phased closure starting with Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano closed on May 11th (last day to dine in May 10th.) Muppet*Vision 3D and PizzeRizzo will close on June 7th, and by June 8th, the entire Muppets Courtyard will be closed.
We know this reviewer was not a huge fan of the Laugh Floor, but from the concept art, it seems like the Laugh Floor could maybe be moving to Hollywood Studios as we noticed a billboard advertising it. Of course, Disney has not yet confirmed that. Plus, Disney did say that the theater that holds Muppet*Vision 3D would be home to a show, so could it be the Laugh Floor? Only time will tell!

My husband is not a fan of Laugh Floor as he always gets picked. We once visited with his parents and his dad felt the same. They argued during the queue that “I always get picked “, “ No I always get picked” and so on. On this occasion, they both got picked. That was hilarious!
While everyone is of course entitled to their own opinion, I can’t agree with this review at all. The Laugh Floor is what it is – it certainly isn’t a “headline” attraction in MK, but it is an enjoyable way to spend a half hour or so. One of the nicest parts about it is that every show is largely different (within the overall structure of the show), which is something that is missing from the vast majority of attractions at WDW. WDW needs more attractions at this experience and re-watchability level to give crowds something to do instead of having them standing in line for the headliner attractions. Everyone benefits from this happening.
