Things are about to get a lot more epic at Universal Orlando!
The new theme park, Epic Universe, is set to open on May 22nd, 2025, and will be home to five different portals for you to step through and explore. They include Celestial Park, SUPER NINTENDO WORLD, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter: Ministry of Magic, How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk, and Dark Universe. Here are four important rules you need to know if you plan on visiting the park this year.

Epic Universe Will Have Its Own Security Area
Currently, Universal CityWalk, Universal Studios Florida, and Islands of Adventure are all part of one big secured area. This means once you go through the security area, you do not have to go through security again as long as you stay within the secure area.Â
Epic Universe is not near this secure area, which means it will have its own security. If you plan on visiting Epic Universe, don’t make the mistake of going through the usual security lines that grant you access to CityWalk and the other two parks. Instead, you will want to make your way directly to the new Epic Universe security screening area.Â

You May Need to Use a Locker
Some attractions at Universal Orlando require you to place your belongings in a locker prior to boarding the ride. This is to ensure that nothing falls out of your bag as it could have the potential to be lost, hurt someone, or hinder the attraction.Â
While it is not confirmed that attractions in Epic Universe will require you to use the free locker system at Universal, we are expecting Stardust Racers, Curse of the Werewolf, Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment, Dragon Racer’s Rally, Hiccup’s Wing Gliders, Mine-Cart Madness, to potentially use a locker system.

There is No Park Hopping or Single Day Tickets… At Least For Now
Demand to visit this new theme park is high, which means Universal must limit the ways that guests can enter and buy tickets for the park. Currently, the only way to purchase tickets for Epic Universe is by a vacation package or by purchasing multi-day tickets that include a visit to the other two theme parks. Universal did say that we can expect more ticket options in the future.Â
There is also no park-hopping option available for Epic Universe tickets, but this could change over time.Â
It Might Be a LOT Harder Than We Thought To Visit Epic Universe When It Opens
Epic Universe is Not Included for Annual Passholders
Although being an Annual Passholder grants you access to the parks, it does not grant you access to Epic Universe. Once again, this could change in the future, as Universal could allow an add-on for Epic Universe.Â
While we did say that single-day tickets are not currently available for purchase, there is an exception to this rule. Universal Orlando Annual Passholders have the opportunity to purchase single-day tickets for the park.
Annual Passes Are Gonna Get Complicated at Universal Orlando in 2025
As we mentioned before, Universal did say new ways to buy tickets to enter Epic Universe will eventually be available. Hopefully, Annual Passholders will be granted more flexibility in the future.Â

We are visiting the second week of June. It was really frustrating that I had to spend so much money in order to get into Epic. It would have been cheaper to get a season pass and buy a ticket to Epic except no one could tell me how much a ticket would cost. Hated dealing with the agent who only wanted to upsell me and would not answer my questions.
