If you are staying at a Disney World hotel, you’ll want to take part in this special perk for more time in the parks, but here’s how to do it.

Early Theme Park Entry allows guests of Disney Resorts and other select hotels to enter the four theme parks up to thirty minutes early every day of the week. But how do you make sure you utilize this perk well? We have 3 rules you should follow.
1. Actually Arriving EARLY
For Early Entry, resort guests can start riding attractions 30 minutes before park opening. However, there are a lot of things you’ll need to do to get in a queue ahead of the start of Early Entry.

You’ll want to leave your Disney World hotel in plenty of time to take transportation, go through security, scan in to the park, and walk to the holding point for guests. This could all vary based on transportation, which park, and what crowds look like. Be sure to plan for these things in advance to maximize your time.

2. Have A Plan
You’ll also want to have a plan for where you want to go during Early Entry. You won’t want to waste time inside the park trying to figure out which attraction to go to first. It is also important to know which rides are available during Early Entry. For example, TRON Lightcycle/Run at Magic Kingdom is NOT available until the park opens, although you can wait in a line for it during Early Entry.

Early Entry recently changed at EPCOT as well, so you can ride Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind during this time. Talk to your travel party and figure out what is most beneficial to you.

3. Eat Breakfast Beforehand
Do not make the mistake I have made several times by not eating before going to Early Entry. There are very few quick service restaurants available during that time, and even the ones that are, you aren’t going to want to stop and eat.

30 minutes isn’t that long, so you’ll want to make the most of it. Some tips for getting that breakfast in ahead of time: pack your own snacks to eat while you wait, or grab a pastry from your hotel the night before and save it for the next morning. You’ll need the energy, trust me.
