A Major Part of Disney World Closes in 5 Days

Blizzard Beach is about to close its gates again, and if you were hoping to squeeze in one more splash-filled day this spring, the clock is ticking.

Blizzard Beach

The water park will officially be closed on May 1st, but there’s a silver lining: both Disney water parks will finally be open together this summer for the first time in years. Plus, there’s a related perk that hotel guests definitely want to know about. Let’s break it all down.

Blizzard Beach Is Closing… Again

Yep, Blizzard Beach last open day will be on April 30th. This isn’t totally surprising — Disney typically alternates which water park stays open during different parts of the year, and Blizzard Beach has had a bit of an on-again-off-again relationship with guests ever since the pandemic shutdowns.

So if you’re in Disney World between now and April 30th, you’ve got just a few days left to float the Cross Country Creek, ride the Chairlift up Mount Gushmore, or race your friends down Toboggan Racers before it closes its icy doors for a while.

But Don’t Panic — Summer’s Looking GOOD

And now for the biggest water park update. For the first time since 2019, both Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach will be open this summer. Starting May 21st and running through September 7th, Disney’s pulling a double water park move — something we’ve all been waiting on for years now.

Typhoon Lagoon

This is a huge win for summer guests. If you’re planning a trip during that window, you’ll have two very different vibes to choose from: Typhoon Lagoon with its tropical storm theme and the iconic wave pool, or Blizzard Beach with its wild “melting ski resort” aesthetic and that intense Summit Plummet drop slide.

Having both parks open gives guests more options, helps spread out the crowds, and just makes Disney World in the summer that much more fun. It also means shorter lines, more seating, and less chance of being packed like sardines in the lazy river. That alone is worth celebrating.

A Free Water Park Day for Disney Resort Guests

Here’s the part you might not have heard yet — all throughout 2025, all Disney World Resort hotel guests will get FREE water park admission on their check-in day. Yes, you read that right. On the day you arrive, every registered guest in your room can head to either Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach for free.

So if you’re arriving in the morning and your park tickets don’t kick in until the next day, this is the perfect way to jump into vacation mode. Drop your bags, grab your swimsuit, and hit the slides. It’s a smart move from Disney — it fills in that awkward arrival-day gap and gives you a full extra experience without the extra cost.

So here’s the TL;DR:

    • Blizzard Beach will be closed as of May 1st, so get your visit in now if you’re headed to the parks soon.
    • Both water parks will be open together from May 21st to September 7th.
    • Throughout 2025, Disney Resort hotel guests will get a free water park day on their arrival date. Total game-changer.
