2025 is off to a bit of a rough start at Disney World.

We knew that this would be the year of closures across all four parks as Disney prepares for a ton of new and exciting projects that are on the horizon. So many attractions have already closed this year, and even more closures are on the way. We are only about five weeks into the year, and out of the attractions that are still operating, you can’t count on ten of them anymore.
Sometimes, attractions close during regular park operating hours due to technical difficulties. You may remember that Rise of the Resistance would go down all the time when it first opened, and the same with Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.

In most cases, these rides will close for a short time and re-open later in the day. Still, it can be frustrating to get out of line and wait for an attraction to re-open. We wanted to give you a fair warning that these ten rides have gone down 20 or more times this year already!

Magic Kingdom
Currently, the Magic Kingdom has three attractions that are closed for refurbishment, including Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, the Astro Orbiter, and The Hall of Presidents.

While those three rides are closed, four rides have been struggling with technical difficulties.
- The Carousel of Progress has been down 21 times this year.
- The Barnstormer has been down 25 times this year.
- The Magic Carpets of Aladdin has been down 36 times this year.
- And the winner in Magic Kingdom with the most closures is The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, which has gone down 47 times this year.

Magic Kingdom will soon see even more closures as the park prepares to welcome the new Cars expansion that will replace Tom Sawyer Island and the Rivers of America.

EPCOT
In EPCOT, Test Track has been closed since last June to make way for Test Track 3.0, which is set to open this summer. The Gran Fiesta Tour closed in January for refurbishment and is expected to reopen in March.

Two rides in EPCOT have been down over 20 times this year, and they are:
- Journey into Imagination with Figment, which has been down 23 times this year.
- Spoiler alert: Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure holds the record for most downtime this year so far across all four parks, as it has been down 52 times since the start of the year.

Hollywood Studios
Significant changes are happening in Hollywood Studios as two new stage shows, which will be housed in the former homes of Voyage of the Little Mermaid and Lighting McQueen’s Racing Academy, are set to debut this summer.

Muppets Courtyard will soon undergo a phased closure starting in May and will be completely closed by June 8th to make way for the new Monsters Inc. Land.

The Muppets will soon have a new home at Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, but unfortunately, the current ride has made our list of rides you can’t count on.
- Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway has been down 20 times so far this year.
- Rise of the Resistance, although better than when it first opened, has gone down 32 times this year.
- Finally, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith, has been down 39 times this year.
Can the Muppets BREAK the Curse of the Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster in Disney’s Hollywood Studios?

Animal Kingdom
Animal Kingdom is a park with very few rides, and more ride closures are on the way. So far, Chester and Hester’s Dino-Rama has closed to make way for the new Tropical Americas-themed land. Eventually, DINOSAUR will close as part of phase two of the DinoLand, U.S.A. closures.

That is not all; it was just announced that It’s Tough to Be a Bug! will officially close on March 17th to make way for Zootopia: Better Zoogether, which will open this upcoming Winter.

Plus, Kali River Rapids is closed for its usual refurbishment. This leaves very few attraction options in Animal Kingdom, and the park’s arguably star attraction has been struggling this year.
- Expedition Everest has gone down 21 times this year.

While it is not unusual for rides to go down temporarily throughout the day, these numbers are pretty high for just the start of the year. So just remember to pack your patience, and don’t let a ride closure ruin your park day. There is so much to see and do across all four parks, and there is more to Disney World than just rides.
