It’s refurbishment season which means Disney rides are being scheduled to close left and right!

Kali River Rapids in Disney’s Animal Kingdom recently announced its closure (because who wants to ride that in the winter?!). Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in Magic Kingdom is closing for a YEAR. Now, there’s another iconic Disney ride to add to the list — this time in EPCOT!
In the Mexico Pavilion at EPCOT, you’ll find a cult favorite attraction. Yes, it’s the Gran Fiesta Tour Starring the Three Caballeros!

Disney recently posted an update on its website noting that the ride will be closed starting on January 6th, 2025. The ride is expected to reopen on March 15th, 2025, however, this could change. We’ve seen refurbs be extended and shortened so that could be possible with this ride as well.

The Gran Fiesta Tour is a family-friendly slow-moving boat ride and Three Caballeros fans are sure to love it. The story is that Donald disappears south of the border and Panchito and José Carioca go on a mission to find him. You’ll follow along and pass some of the most famous sights in Mexico!

Water rides tend to have an annual refurb so that they can run smoothly the rest of the year. Let’s just hope everything is in good shape so we don’t have another Plant Donald situation! Several years ago, the Donald animatronic went missing and was replaced…by a plant with a sombrero. It quickly went viral and still lives in our heads rent-free today. You can read about the whole saga here — I promise, you won’t regret it.

Although this ride holds a special place in our hearts, it is not a must-do for everyone. However, if this is a priority for you, we’d recommend visiting before January 6th or after March 15th!
