Rope dropping in Disney World is no joke.

Yes, they don’t physically drop a rope anymore to let you into the park, but there are still tons of people who queue up to be one of the first people into the park, and therefore some of the first to ride some of the popular rides. Some of Disney World’s rides are worth rope-dropping for, but there are a few popular rides we ALL need to stop running straight to.
Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
YES we’re starting this off with a pretty controversial one, but there’s a specific set of circumstances when we say rope dropping Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is a good idea.

That situation is if you know you can be one of the FIRST people into the park and in line. This usually means you’re staying at a Disney World hotel and can take advantage of Early Entry. Not only that, but that you’re on the FIRST bus from your hotel and are one of the first to the park. In that case, rope dropping this popular ride is worth it. Otherwise? We say wait until the end of the day.
Avatar Flight of Passage
For the same reason listed above, we also recommend rope dropping Flight of Passage under very specific circumstances.

This is one of the most popular rides in Disney World still, and likely will be for a while, so if you’re not one of the literal first people in the park, we say, once again, wait until later in the day.
Frozen Ever After
While Frozen Ever After can certainly get long lines throughout the day, it’s not the ride we would recommend rope dropping in EPCOT.

Frozen Ever After is an all indoor ride, which means that if there’s bad weather, the ride won’t close down. Test Track and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure also consistently battle with Frozen Ever After for the highest wait times in the park, and we’d actually recommend rope dropping these two over Frozen Ever After in most cases.
Rise of the Resistance
GASP! Yes, Rise of the Resistance is on here too. While rope dropping this one isn’t a terrible idea, it’s also one of the furthest rides back in the park, so it’s a little hard to get to fast.

We also don’t recommend waiting until the end of the day for this one either, because it does have a habit of going down throughout the day. Instead, we recommend keeping an eye on it all day, and heading there around lunch time when many other people are stopping to eat.
Spaceship Earth
We know Spaceship Earth is the first ride you see when you walk into EPCOT, but PLEASE do not rope drop this ride!

Due to the fact that it’s the first ride most people see when they enter the park, this ride often has high wait times in the morning, but they’ll drop WAY lower throughout the rest of the day. We don’t recommend waiting in any line longer than 20 minutes for this one, just because it’s usually one of the lowest waits in the park.
“it’s a small world”
Listen, we know “it’s a small world” is one of the most iconic rides in the park, and yes, it can get some higher wait times on busy days, but PLEASE don’t waste precious rope drop time on this ride.

As we said, it does have its moments where it has high waits, but it’s relatively uncommon, so you can find a time later in the day to ride it when the wait is much lower.
Na’vi River Journey
Yes, we have both Pandora rides on this list, but Na’vi River Journey is on here for a different reason.

On many days, Pandora’s wait times will be LONG in the early morning when the park first opens, and then Na’vi River Journey will majorly drop later in the day when most people have ridden both rides in this section of the park and have moved on.

So what rides should you rope drop instead? Here are some of our suggestions!
- Test Track
- Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure
- Space Mountain
- Slinky Dog Dash
- Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run
- Kilimanjaro Safaris

What ride do you rope drop in Disney World? Tell us in the comments!

It’s so funny that Flight of Passage and RoTR are here because I always rope drop those ones (and I rope dropped Seven Dwarves last trip…) Flight of Passage always makes me nauseous for some reason but I love it, so I need the whole day afterwards to recover ?
