Special events at Disney World can be an awesome experience for those participating…but they can also throw off other parts of the regular flow in the parks.
The key is to be prepared! For example, Magic Kingdom closes earlier on nights when Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party takes place so regular park guests have a shortened day in the park. runDisney can also impact your Disney World trip and some closures were just announced that you should know about!
runDisney holds many race weekends throughout the year in Disney World, where racers get to run through and around the parks. It’s an amazing experience, but it does cause some road closures for the runners’ safety.
Disney just added a warning to their website about some traffic restrictions and closures for some upcoming runDisney weekends. For the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend, watch out for these closures:
- January 6th, 2024 — 3AM to 10AM (for the Walt Disney World Half Marathon)
- January 7th, 2024 — 3AM to 12:30PM (for the Walt Disney World Marathon)
The closure information has also been announced for the Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend:
- February 24th, 2024 — 3AM to 7:30AM (for the Disney Princess 10K)
- February 25th, 2024 — 3AM to 10AM (for the Disney Princess Half Marathon)
If you are driving to Disney World, be sure to turn on a map that day and watch out for these closures and/or detours. It could make or break your rope drop plans on these mornings!
