There are several major films slated for 2026, including titles from Star Wars, Marvel, and Pixar. But what days do you need to be ready with your popcorn and your movie tickets? Let’s break it down.

During a recent earnings call, Disney shared a graphic with a timeline of every film release scheduled for this year, as well as some going into 2027. Starting this month, Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu hits theaters on May 22nd.

The summer will be a big season, with Toy Story 5 on June 19th, the live-action Moana on July 10th, Super Troopers 3 on August 7th, and The Dog Stars on August 28th. Toy Story 5 is likely to be the standout of that bunch — the last Toy Story film was released in 2019, and the franchise has maintained its fanbase for over 30 years.

In the fall, Whalefall will release October 16th and Wild Horse Nine will come out November 6th. On November 26th, Hexed will hit theaters. It’s a new coming-of-age film from Walt Disney Animation, so you can expect to see a lot of hype and promotion around that one in the months leading up to it.

Hexed!

After Hexed, we have the BIG one. Avengers Doomsday is coming to theaters on December 18th. It’s a big deal for Marvel fans, who’ve been eager for another blockbuster since the wild success of Avengers Endgame and Spider-Man: No Way Home. Add in the fact that Robert Downey Jr. is back, and tickets for this one are likely going to sell out fast on opening weekend.

The two films on the calendar already for 2027 are Ice Age: Boiling Point on February 5th and a new Pixar movie called Gatto on March 5th. We can’t wait to learn more about those two!

Disney is on a roll when it comes to releasing new film, TV, and streaming content, and it seems the company won’t be stopping anytime soon. In the earnings report from the same call where this graphic was shared, there was an entire section titled “Investing in IP,” which spoke of the merits of plussing up the IP that Disney owns to bring in fans in new ways.

Just like how Zootopia broke theater records in China and continues to bring interest to Shanghai Disneyland, other popular franchises and characters can drive attendance in theaters, streaming numbers, merchandise purchases, and theme park visits.

The earnings report stated, “We are especially excited for the upcoming theatrical releases of The Mandalorian & Grogu, Toy Story 5, and our live-action Moana. Franchise films like these strengthen our most strategic asset — our intellectual property — and help fuel our streaming, consumer products, experiences, and games businesses over years and generations.”

However, even though Disney is investing heavily in existing IP, they’re not shying away from original content. Pixar’s Hoppers was a success in 2026, and with titles like Hexed and Gatto on the schedule, there’s more to come. The key to getting more original content? Fans have to show up and support it!
