9 (!!) Attractions and a Restaurant Will Be CLOSED in Disney World This Week

A quick word of WARNING before you head out on your next Disney World trip: there are several closures at the parks and hotels right now!

Watch out for those closures!

Disney World is consistently updating rides, attractions, gift shops, and hotels, which means we often see construction going on. Although the construction sometimes happens in the background without affecting anything around it, that’s not always the case. To make sure you’re not caught unawares by any closures, check out this list of what’s going to be closed in Disney World this week, from August 21st to the 27th, 2022.

Magic Kingdom Closures

Walt Disney World Railroad

This classic ride usually transports visitors around Magic Kingdom with stops at a couple of stations around the park. It’s been closed for about 3 years now, and Disney has not announced when it will reopen.

Walt Disney World Railroad

We have seen a couple of good signs that it could return sooner rather than later, such as train testing and Cast Member training. However, this attraction could remain closed until construction on the TRON: Lightcycle Run coaster wraps up, as that project has interrupted the train tracks in Tomorrowland.

Tomorrowland Light & Power Co.

Another casualty of the TRON construction is Tomorrowland Light & Power Co. — the Space Mountain gift shop.

No store for now

Visitors usually walk through the gift shop after riding Space Mountain, but they’re being redirected to exit a different way for now. Disney hasn’t announced when this shop will reopen.

Liberty Square Riverboat

The Liberty Square Riverboat will be closed from August 22nd through September 1st. Disney hasn’t made an announcement about this closure, but the Riverboat’s webpage shows no hours for those dates.

It looks like the boat will be back to running like normal on September 2nd.

Enchanted Tales with Belle

Enchanted Tales with Belle is still closed in Magic Kingdom, and Disney hasn’t announced when it will reopen.

Enchanted Tales with Belle

For now, you can usually spot Belle at the front of the Festival of Fantasy Parade, which runs through Magic Kingdom once or twice each day. Check the My Disney Experience app to see what the parade times are during your visit.

Pete’s Silly Sideshow

Pete’s Silly Sideshow is a character meet-and-greet location at Storybook Circus. Although it’s still closed for now, Disney has announced that this spot will reopen sometime “in the coming months.”

In the meantime, make sure to say hello to Winnie the Pooh and Tigger — they’re back meeting guests near The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh.

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique is reopening this week in Magic Kingdom! This boutique will open on August 25th, and reservations are open now.

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique

Disney hasn’t announced a reopening date for the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutiques at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort or Disney Springs — the August reopening is just for the Magic Kingdom location.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios Closures

For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration

This Frozen show is scheduled to be closed from August 22nd through September 9th, 2022, for “routine refurbishment.” However, the website is still showing opening times for the show on those dates, so it’s possible that this closure has been delayed.

For the First Time in Forever

We’ll keep an eye on the Frozen Sing-Along and let you know about any changes.

Fantasmic!

The popular nighttime show Fantasmic! has been closed for a while now, and Disney hasn’t given a specific reopening date for it.

Fantasmic! | 2020

We do know, however, that Fantasmic! will reopen sometime in 2022. We’re hoping to hear an update about its return soon!

Voyage of the Little Mermaid

This Little Mermaid show is still closed in Hollywood Studios, and Disney hasn’t said when or if it will reopen.

Voyage of the Little Mermaid

In the meantime, head to Magic Kingdom to find a different Little Mermaid attraction — Under the Sea – Journey of the Little Mermaid.

EPCOT Closures

Canada Far & Wide in CircleVision 360

Although Canada Far & Wide in CircleVision 360 is technically closed, it also kind of isn’t. Let us explain: Instead of a movie playing inside the theater, you’ll find one of the EPCOT Food & Wine Festival booths there!

Canada Far and Wide

The Appleseed Orchard booth has an apple crumble tart and a few apple-flavored drinks. It also has the advantage of being one of the only indoor festival booths — a huge perk on hot Orlando days. We’re expecting the movie attraction to return once the festival ends on November 19th.

There were some UNEXPECTED guests at the EPCOT Food & Wine Festival.

Disney World Hotel Refurbishments: Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

Kona Café

The Kona Café at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is closed right now for some refurbishments. It’s expected to reopen this fall with “an enhanced table-service experience,” according to Disney World’s website.

If you still want to grab some food here, you can use Mobile Order (on the My Disney Experience app) to order breakfast, lunch, or dinner from Kona Café To Go. You’ll pick up your food next to Kona Island.

Disney Water Park Refurbishments

Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park

Disney’s Blizzard Beach is currently closed, but you can still visit Typhoon Lagoon — Disney World’s OTHER water park.

Blizzard Beach

Disney hasn’t announced when Blizzard Beach will reopen, but we’ll be on the lookout for updates about the park.

Remember that there are a couple of limited-time celebrations going on in Disney World right now, which you’ll be able to take part in this week. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is sold out for this week’s party dates, but even without a ticket, you can see the decorations, shop for new merchandise, and try some of the snacks and treats.

Mickey Halloween Wreath

There’s also Disney World’s 50th Anniversary celebration, which includes new nighttime shows at Magic Kingdom and EPCOT, special snacks, and lots of merchandise. You can find some of that merchandise online as well if you’re celebrating from home.

  1. We are headed out next week . Staying for a week at Old Key West . Looking forward to a great time . Extremely disappointed there is no dining plans and the constant nickels and diming the fans to death . We have been there over 10 times for a week at a time . I will reserve my opinion as to us going back again after this visit .

  2. The one thing these attractions have in common is live performers. Have Storytime with Belle and Voyage of the Little Mermaid failed to reopen due to an inability to hire actors?
