Can you believe it’s almost Christmas??

Next week the theme parks will be hustling and bustling with holiday crowds. It’s best to come prepared during Christmastime so you can plan around any scheduled closures. Never fear! We’re here to list all the refurbishments that may affect your visit to Disney World from December 21st through December 27th.
Tom Sawyer Island and Liberty Square Riverboat
Guests visiting Frontierland and Liberty Square may notice something is missing from the Rivers of America…water! The river has been drained for an extended refurbishment. You can see the boat guide rails on the river bottom and some construction vehicles inside the dried river.

The drained river affects the Liberty Square Riverboat tours and access to Tom Sawyer Island. The two attractions are scheduled to remain closed until February 28th, 2021.

Walt Disney World Railroad
The Magic Kingdom train is not currently running at this time. The train has halted operations due to the construction around TRON Lightcycle Run. The massive roller coaster takes up a lot of space and is located near the park’s outer edge. The major construction site seems to have interrupted the train’s pathway in Tomorrowland.

There is no official date for the train to reopen. TRON is projected to open in October 2021. We could see the train reopen around this time too. In the meantime, you can still visit the lower level of the Main Street train station.

Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover
Tomorrowland fans everywhere are anticipating the reopening of the PeopleMover. The attraction was scheduled to open with the rest of the Magic Kingdom in July. The ride remained closed on opening day and we didn’t see it reopen after that.

The PeopleMover eventually ended up on the refurb schedule and the opening date was delayed twice. As of now, the attraction is set to reopen on January 9th, 2021.

Additional Construction
You’ll notice more construction around Disney World outside of these four attractions. EPCOT is a jungle of construction walls as Disney prepares for the theme park’s huge transformation.

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is getting a facelift too! The entryway is getting a new look and guest rooms will be refurbished with a new Moana-inspired theme. You’ll see a lot of construction walls and workers hammering away at the resort!

The Magic Kingdom entrance might look a little weird to you too. The Main Street Train Station is getting some work done. You’ll see a brown scrim on the lower half of the station and a facade on the upper portion.

That’s all for this week! Check back with us for your weekly refurbishment schedules!
