Here’s a little secret: no two Disney World vacations are ever the same. Different families have different ways of doing Disney — and that’s okay!

Some people may tell you that nap breaks are ESSENTIAL, while others may tell you to skip them altogether! Rope drop works for some and not for others. Really, with so many options in the World, there’s no reason anyone needs to model their trip on someone else’s.
We found 7 popular Disney tips that you shouldn’t follow!
1. You HAVE to ride this attraction
Sure, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is a popular attraction, but it’s not for everyone! If your family doesn’t really care about Kylo Ren, Rey, or BB-8, you might want to skip the hassle of waiting Standby or buying an Individual Attraction Selections and ride something else!

This same advice goes for pretty much any attraction in Disney World. Some people think that “it’s a small world” is a classic, while others tend to prefer the more thrilling attractions. If your family lives for speed, you might want to prioritize roller coasters. On the other hand, if your kids love Disney princesses, spend some time in Fantasyland!

2. Try and do everything in one day!
A Disney day looks different for everyone. Don’t feel pressured to try and ride EVERYTHING in one day — or even one vacation. Running from attraction to attraction can be exhausting (especially in the Florida heat).

It’s OK to take your time; some of the most magical memories come when you least expect them, like sitting on a bench or relaxing outside a gift shop!
3. You need to spend lots of money on a hotel to enjoy it.
When it comes to choosing a hotel, we recommend taking a look at what matters most to YOUR family. Does your family spend a lot of time at the resort? Do you mind using Disney buses to take you to all four parks? Is it important to have sit-down dining available at your resort?

If you have a little one, they might enjoy the theming of All-Star Movies more than the Caribbean Beach Resort, but another family might prefer access to Disney’s Skyliner instead!

Finding the right Disney hotel is like trying on a glass slipper — it’s not a one-size-fits-all decision.
4. Don’t waste your time at a sit-down restaurant.
While Quick Service meals will get you in and out much faster, sometimes it’s nice to be able to take a little break in the air conditioning! Some restaurants even go all-out with the theming, like the Sci Fi Dine-In Theater in Disney’s Hollywood Studios!

Sit-down meals give you a chance to get off your feet after a long morning or afternoon of standing. As an added bonus, you don’t have to scour the room for a table!

If you’re tired of burgers and fries, give a sit-down restaurant a try — it might become a new favorite!
5. You should ALWAYS upgrade to the Park Hopper ticket.
There’s something to be said about staying in one park per day. Keep in mind this doesn’t mean you need to physically stay in the park from open to close — take a break if needed!

Your day might feel a little more relaxed if you aren’t rushing through the park with a plan to Park Hop right at 2PM. If an attraction is down in the morning, you can try back in the evening without the stress of trying to work around Park Hopping.
6. You NEED to book your dining reservations 60 days in advance!
Yes, we will admit, you should try and book your dining reservations as far out as you can, but that doesn’t mean you should stop trying after that!

Sometimes, people change their reservations a day or two before their vacations, so always be on the lookout for new reservations!

If you couldn’t find a reservation on your first try, don’t give up.
7. You should rope drop every park!
Not every family operates well in the morning. If a park opens at 8AM, you might not want to wake everyone up at 5:30-6 in the morning to get ready, eat breakfast, and make the rush to the Park.

By the time you factor in how long it takes to get ready, eat breakfast, and wait for transportation, you’ll probably end up setting your alarm pretty early! Sometimes, sleeping in is the better option.
How Much Does Being at Rope-Drop Really Matter?
As with any Disney tip, mileage will vary. At the end of the day, you have to decide for yourself what’s best for your family. Don’t feel like you have to follow EVERY tip out there — odds are you will have fun no matter what!
