Disney Files 2 NEW Permits for Hollywood Studios Transformation

Construction truly is everywhere in Disney World, but we get excited whenever we see it take a step forward in any capacity, and that includes permits!

One of the biggest construction projects happening right now is over in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, where you’ll find that Animation Courtyard is in the process of becoming The Walt Disney Studios with all new experiences. We’ve been keeping a close eye on construction and progress on the new land, especially since it’s supposed to open this summer, which is only a few months away. Two new permits were just filed for this new land, so let’s dive in and see what they’re specifically for!

Both permits are for the same general area, which is inside the Walt Disney Studios construction. They’re also both for installing signage, and the work will be done by Design Communications, Ltd.

The first permit is to install signage over at the theatre that currently houses The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure show. Don’t worry, the show itself isn’t going anywhere! If you look closely at the concept art above, you’ll notice the theatre itself is renamed to “Studio Theater.” It’s very likely that that is the signage being installed.

The second permit is for what looks like the entrance to the new land, as the address used to be for the iconic Hollywood Studios arch that was demolished as part of the construction back in late 2025. Again, concept art shows new signage, lower to the ground and more horizontal, just like you see at the actual entrance to The Walt Disney Studios in California.

We’re really hoping all of this progress means that at least parts of the land will be ready to open in a few months, especially since we saw so many offerings in this area for Cool KIDS’ SUMMER last year.
