We’re not exactly the airport police, but that won’t stop us from calling out some unhinged airport behavior.

We’ve spent A TON of time traveling through Orlando International Airport (MCO) and have made several observations during our adventures. Between picking up new travel hacks, we’ve noticed some odd and unhinged behavior, leaving us to ponder…what the heck?
For the most part, you should have a pretty mundane airport experience at MCO (that’s the goal, at least). Still, there are some pretty hectic trends we’ve noticed, such as gate-crashing.

Gate-crashing — essentially — is the practice of lining up in front of the gate BEFORE your boarding group is called. The overeager passengers are looking to rush onto the plane as soon as possible, but there are some notable issues with this process.

The first is that these folks are blocking the path of people ACTUALLY boarding.
The second is that they’re creating unnecessary traffic for the other passengers and staff. Ultimately, gate-crashing serves no purpose other than creating a fire hazard and way more stress for everyone involved. Don’t sweat it and practice patience. If you show up at your gate on time, you’ll make it on the plane — gate-crashing not required.

The next thing we need to stop immediately is any unsanitary practice. We’re talking things like changing diapers in public, walking around the gate barefoot, and just acting in total disregard for yourself and others.

Ultimately, if accidents and mistakes happen, we don’t want to pass any sort of judgment. We just ask that if you need to do anything that might be considered unsanitary, please use one of the many airport bathrooms.

The last behavior we’d like to see stopped is having poor awareness when using a phone, tablet, or laptop. Blasting videos without wearing headphones (especially if the video has any level of inappropriateness) or being loud while taking a phone call can be irritating to anyone in the vicinity.

The best workaround for this issue, if you don’t want to bother anyone, is to try to find a secluded area if you must be noisy on your phone, and always refrain from non-kid-friendly behavior. This is the gateway to Disney World and Universal — there will always be children around.

Remember: always be considerate of others — whether you’re at MCO or any public location! Kindness and consideration always go a long way!
