Today is the day! Disney World’s new skip-the-line offering, Lightning Lane Premier Pass, has officially debuted in Disney World.

Although it’s similar to Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass, there are some differences. The biggest difference is that you don’t have to book a specific time to visit a ride’s Lightning Lane if you have Premier Pass. So if you’re’ interested in using Premier Pass, we’re going to show you the step-by-step process on how to purchase it.
We didn’t go into our test of Lightning Lane Premier Pass blind: we previously had an opportunity to try it out in Disneyland. The process for getting Premier Pass in Disney World is similar. You’ll want to find Lightning Lane Premier Pass in the My Disney Experience app: you may see it on the home screen with a “Purchase” button.

If you don’t see it on the app’s home screen, you can search for it. Note that you cannot purchase Premier Pass unless you are staying at a Disney World deluxe hotel. You’ll then get information about Premier Pass and a button that says “Purchase Lightning Lane Premier Pass.” Click on that.

Then you’ll be given the option to select your date: you’ll be able to purchase it up to seven days before the first day of your resort stay for the entire length of your stay up to 14 days at 7AM EST. Then you’ll be asked which park you’re purchasing it for. As you can see, the price varies by date and park. Click on “Continue.”

One thing that we noticed was that you can not purchase multiple passes in different parks — each purchase must be made separately. However, you can buy multiple passes for multiple people per park in one purchase. You’ll be taken to a screen confirming your choice, the price, and party. Click on “Continue.”

Once you’ve made your purchase, the option to purchase Premier Pass will disappear from the home screen of the app, but you’ll see it on the home screen with an option to “View Experiences.” Click on that.

Then you’ll get a list of every experience you can use Premier Pass with. (it’s every ride that has Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass). You’re ready to go!

If you try to purchase it before 7AM, you’ll see the price and be able to continue to the purchase screen, but you will get a warning that the date you’re looking for is not available until 7AM. However, you’ll still see everyone that’s linked to your account. At 7AM, though, it only showed us a list of people we were linked to who have deluxe hotel reservations, so you want to make sure that EVERYONE in your party is on your reservation before you purchase.Â
That’s it, though — the process is pretty straightforward, and once you’ve purchased Premier Pass, you can start scanning into rides’ Lightning Lanes (note that it only allows you to use each ride’s Lightning Lane once per pass).

If I get the premier lightning lane passes for a MK for both people in my party, can we later purchase a single lightning lane for that park if we want to ride Tron a second time?
