Disney’s Hollywood Studios Is About to Look Totally Different

You thought all the construction projects were done at Disney World? Well, you’d better hang tight because you’re in for a ride!

Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Thanks to this year’s D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, we’ve got all sorts of new attractions that will be popping up around Disney World in the next few years like the Tropical Americas Land coming to Animal Kingdom, Villains Land, Cars Land, and a new nighttime parade at Magic Kingdom, and that’s not even all that’s coming. But what about Hollywood Studios? Let’s take a moment to narrow the focus just to that one park and talk with you about how Hollywood Studios is going to look totally different, and it’s going to happen real soon!

As we were saying, the changes coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in the near future are going to totally change the way it looks. Let’s talk about a couple of those changes.

Disney Villains Show

Disney dropped a bomb on us on September 3rd, 2024, by announcing that a new Disney Villains stage show featuring some iconic Disney Villains will be coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in the summer of 2025!

Disney will be transforming the Sunset Showcase in Hollywood Studios into “the mysterious, reflective realm of the Magic Mirror.” This show will feature some of the most infamous Disney Villains like Captain Hook, Maleficient, and Cruella de Vil as they take the stage for live production numbers.

With the new, the old has to go, so you were probably expecting that this new show will be replacing what’s currently in the Sunset Showcase — Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy

Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy

Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy has called the Sunset Showcase home since 2019 and features Lightning McQueen and other Cars characters like Tow Mater and Cruz Ramirez. Disney shared that, “Guests should speed on over for another lap around the track at Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy before October 7.”

If you’re a Cars fan, don’t let this announcement worry you too much because before too long, all your favorite Cars characters are going to be coming to Magic Kingdom as part of the Cars Land coming to Frontierland.

Monsters, Inc. Land

The fun doesn’t stop with just this new Villains show coming to Hollywood Studios, oh no. Disney also announced that a brand new Monsters, Inc. Land is coming to the park! Can you believe it? We’ll actually be able to visit the iconic factory itself!

A new land themed to Pixar Animation Studios’ “Monsters, Inc.” is coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Taking place after the events of the film, Monstropolis needs humans’ laughter to power the city. Guests can even ride on a door like Mike and Sully in the iconic scene from the film with Disney’s first-ever suspended coaster. (Disney)

And the icing on this proverbial cake, is that this land is going to feature the very first suspended coaster ever in a Disney park!

At the moment, there are still no confirmations as to where this will be located, and there are rumors that it could replace either Animation Courtyard or Muppets Courtyard, which is giving Muppets fans all sorts of indigestion. What we do know is that construction will begin in 2025, so in the meantime, we’ll keep waiting on Disney to find out where it’ll be located and when it will open.
