The Big Reason Disney World Could be Extra CROWDED in September

Disney World can get seriously crowded.

Main Street crowds

Sometimes those crowds are due to a major change, like the opening of a new ride or restaurant. Other times it’s just due to the time of a visit — like spring break or the holiday season. But sometimes another thing can bring crowds to Disney World that you might not expect.

Disney World often hosts conferences and sometimes these conferences can result in larger-than-normal crowds hitting the parks. In September, one major conference will be held at Disney World and you’ll want to be prepared.

The event is organized by Out & Equal and will be held at Walt Disney World Resort from September 11th through the 14th. The pre-conference day is the 11th and the event is from the 12th-14th.

According to the Miami Herald, the conference — called the Out & Equal Workplace Summit — promotes lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender rights in the workplace. Executives and professionals from some of the world’s largest companies will all gather for this event. Out & Equal, the organization behind the conference, had had a long relationship with Disney.

But it’s not just the event this year that you’ll want to be prepared for. The conference is set to take place in Disney World in 2024 as well, so you’ll want to be aware of that next year too. Some of the companies that have sponsored the 2023 event include Apple, McDonald’s, Uber, Walmart, Amazon, and Cracker Barrel. There will even be booths at the event for the State Department and CIA.

Pride Mugs

And this is no small conference. According to the Miami Herald, OVER 5,000 people are expected to attend it. Out & Equal has called it the largest LGBTQ+ conference in the world. That many guests at the conference could easily spill into the parks, Disney Springs, or other areas of the resort, so you’ll want to be prepared to potentially see some more crowds in the area around this time.

  1. Yes, we will be there that exact week and I’m a little worried now the parks will be extra crowded and not knowing exactly were the conference will be also.

  2. September is usually my favorite time to go to Disney, due to the low costs of rooms, and usually crowds. This is only for a few days, so I don’t suspect it will have that much impact. Disney is trying to get use their space to capacity…so it makes sense.
