Disney World is constantly a big old work in progress. From a quick paint job to a full-scale overhaul, you can usually find some sort of construction in Disney World if you look hard enough. Sometimes, these closures and refurbishment projects are finished in no time, but other times, construction can drag on for a long time.
If you’ve got a trip to Disney World coming up this April, you might want to take a look at all the closures happening in the parks and resorts. Come with us as we take a look at all the closures and refurbishments happening in Disney World this April.
EPCOT Refurbishments
Souk-Al-Magreb
Walking through the World Showcase in EPCOT, you might not even realize that you’re passing by a Disney World mystery! In the Morocco pavilion, the small Souk-Al-Magreb gift shop is closed, with no official reopening date in sight!
Originally, Dinsey closed this gift shop with the intention to complete its refurbishment by February 2022, but the shop never reopened. The shop is still closed, and Disney has not shared any details on the fate of Souk-Al-Magreb.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom Refurbishments
Finding Nemo – The Musical
Finding Nemo: The Musical is located in Disney’s Animal Kingdom just outside of Dinoland, U.S.A. The colorful show featured all our favorite Finding Nemo characters as they sang and danced their way through the story of Finding Nemo. Since Disney World reopened back in 2020, the show remained closed and has not reopened yet.
While we still don’t have an exact reopening date quite yet, we do know that Disney plans to reimagine the show with a new storyline, and fan-favorite songs like “In the Big Blue World” and “Go with the Flow” are expected to return in the new show.

Expedition Everest
Expedition Everest — Legend of the Forbidden Mountain at Disney’s Animal Kingdom will also remain closed this April. The attraction has been closed since early January for an extended refurbishment. Disney stated that the closure was expected to last about 3 months, and the project reopening date is sometime in mid-April 2022.
Disney has not shared a specific opening date yet, but we’ll let you know when Disney shares more information!

Magic Kingdom Closures
Walt Disney World Railroad
The Walt Disney World Railroad in the Magic Kingdom has been closed for a long, long time. Thanks to the TRON roller coaster, construction materials are blocking a portion of the train tracks, which is preventing the train from running.
While we still don’t have an opening timeline for TRON, Disney recently teased that the Walt Disney World Railroad may return soon. We noticed some ride testing on Walt Disney World Railroad, which is a great sign!

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort
Disney is currently working on a pretty large construction project at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. A whole building of new DVC Resort-Studio rooms will soon join the Big Pine Key building!
The rooms should be complete by late June 2022. During the refurbishment, guests may see and hear active construction, so keep that in mind if you’re planning to visit the resort.
