Disney Shares an Update on the Walt Disney World Railroad

Disney World has continued to reopen restaurants, hotels, and even attractions slowly but surely since the global pandemic-related closures in 2020.

But, there is one popular Magic Kingdom attraction that has yet to reopen with the rest of the park, and Disney has stayed quiet on just when we might be able to ride it once again. It looks like we may be getting an answer soon, because testing has begun on the Walt Disney World Railroad!

The Walt Disney World Railroad in Magic Kingdom has been closed for over three years after originally being shut down so work could begin on the upcoming TRON: Lightcycle Run coaster in the park.

Up until recently, we hadn’t heard a peep from this train (let alone a full-blown “choo choo”) but back in February guests spotted it chugging along the tracks. Cast Members reported this was a routine trip to keep the engines in working order.

And today, Disney Parks shared a TikTok all about these magnificent trains and the Cast Members who keep them locomoting.

In the video, Cast Member Lou mentions that the crews are excited to be testing the trains to “get them back” on the tracks so guests can ride the railroad once again.
