VIDEO: The Walt Disney World Railroad Was Spotted Testing in Magic Kingdom!

Disney World has been reopening attractions, hotels, and restaurants ever since they closed in 2020.

But one attraction has been closed even longer, with no reopening date in sight. You all know which beloved ride we’re talking about: the Walt Disney World Railroad. We’ve been wondering for a while now what’s going on with the refurbishment and possible reopening for this train. And today, we got a big update in Magic Kingdom!

Recently, a guest recorded a video of the Walt Disney World Railroad running in Magic Kingdom! DisneyFoodBlog shared a video from Twitter user @DisneyfiedAsh of the train chugging along in the park.

The railroad was just testing, so you can’t hop on quite yet. Disney still hasn’t announced when the attraction will reopen to guests, but you can be sure we’re keeping a sharp eye out for a return date.

When we asked a Cast Member about it, they told us that the train will sometimes run in order to keep the engine in good working shape. So this might just be a routine trip for maintenance.

The railroad has now been closed for more than 3 years since it was initially shut down due to construction on the upcoming TRON: Lightcycle Run roller coaster. We got a little update about the train’s refurbishment at Destination D23 last year, and we think it’s looking better than ever!

Hopefully, the testing is a sign of a reopening date soon to come. We’ll be sure to let you know as soon as we hear anything about a return date for this popular attraction.
