Something NEW Has Just Arrived At The Orlando Airport!

Arriving at the airport early is usually key for a smooth travel experience, but then sometimes you’re faced with an interesting dilemma, especially if you’re traveling with kiddos — what in the world do you DO until boarding starts?

Sure, you can go grab something to eat, and if you’ve brought a book, your phone, and some headphones, you can jam out to some music or listen to a podcast. When all else fails, sleep is usually a solid option too, but again, with kiddos, things sometimes get a little harder. That’s why this new addition at MCO Airport in Orlando is SUCH a great idea!

A few days ago, Orlando International Airport (MCO) introduced something new that could be a game changer for families. It’s called the Flybrary, and yes, it’s a library INSIDE the airport!

This is the first of three new Family Zones coming to the airport, so yes, there are more on the way! At the Flybrary, families are encouraged to relax in this cozy space to relax, read, and play together. Here, you’ll find bookshelves resembling trees, stools resembling tree stumps, and carpet resembling water and plant life, and of course, lots of books to read.

One of the best parts of the new Flybrary is the vintage Lake Eola swan boat, which pays tribute to Billy the Swan, as well as downtown Orlando’s iconic swan community. Kiddos and parents alike can sit in it to read their books together.

In regards to opening this new space, Lance Lyttle, CEO of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority (GOAA), said, “As young readers travel though our airport, the Flybrary invites them to take flight with new adventures. Orlando International Airport has made Community a foundational pillar, and we believe a good community partner honors stakeholders by providing new and exciting spaces to explore and learn.” The Flybrary is located in Terminal C, Level 2, near Gate 240 and is open to guests during regular Terminal C operations.
