Some exciting things are happening over in Disneyland’s Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Disney recently confirmed that original Star Wars trilogy characters would soon be seen roaming around that part of the park.

We also recently told you about Rise of the Resistance closing on January 20th. Of course, Star Wars fans were quick to speculate that this closure had something to do with changing the ride (considering the addition of original trilogy characters to the land), but we’ve got an update on that. And sorry, OG trilogy fans…you’re probably not going to like it.
Disney confirmed with us that the Rise of the Resistance closure will not involve any kind of major changes to the ride, as has been speculated. So, no, the original trilogy isn’t going to be taking over the ride. Instead, it’s simply closing for a regular refurbishment.

The story of the ride will remain the same, but it will just be getting a little maintenance to help it run efficiently. Rise of the Resistance is notorious for downtime, given all its high-tech effects, so it probably requires a lot of regular maintenance, too.

Disney has not confirmed how long the ride will be closed, though. On the Disneyland website, the ride isn’t showing hours through February 26th, which is as far as the calendar goes so far. That doesn’t mean the ride will be closed that long, but we won’t know for sure until Disney makes an announcement about its reopening.
We’ll keep an eye on all these Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge updates and keep you informed, so check back with AllEars again soon for more updates.
