PHOTOS: Check Out a Bird’s Eye View of the Latest EPCOT Construction!

If you’ve been to EPCOT recently, you may have noticed that there’s a LOT of construction going on right now.

EPCOT

EPCOT is in the middle of a huge transformation, with a completely new reimagining of Future World, new attractions, and so much more! Currently, much of the center of the park is blocked off by construction walls as Disney works on the brand new “neighborhood,” World Celebration, but today we’ve got a look at all the progress that’s been made!

Recently, the EPCOT monorail reopened, giving us a new perspective on the EPCOT construction! From the ground, park-goers can’t see all the work being done behind the construction walls from the ground, but now we’ve got a bird’s eye view of Disney’s progress.

And, it looks like there’s a lot going on behind those walls! The center area near Spaceship Earth, which used to be home to Starbucks, Club Cool, and The Electric Umbrella, looks completely different with lots of dirt mounts, machinery, and fencing.

Work continues in EPCOT

Once complete, the area will be home to the new Moana-themed attraction, Journey of Water, the Creations Shop, Dreamers Point gardens, and more!

As we took the full loop on the monorail through EPCOT, it looked like some areas were further along than others. For example, this area next to the new Guardians of the Galaxy attraction still has a lot of dirt and wooden pieces left around.

There’s a lot of work to be done here…

We also managed to get another good view of the Guardians of the Galaxy — Cosmic Rewind building over here!

The Guardians of the Galaxy ride was originally planned to open in time for the Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary but was delayed without an opening date. Based on what we can see here, it’s hard to say when this attraction will be complete…

Needs some work!

…but we can tell from Disney’s concept art that the area just out front of the building is getting prepped for a HUGE addition — the Xandarian ship.

So, it looks like a lot of work still lies ahead before we get to experience everything that’s part of the EPCOT Transformation, but at least now we can follow along with the progress from the Monorail!
