Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa is going through a little bit of a makeover at the moment. For years, some have commented that the theming and decorations in the Grand Floridan Resort rooms are old and outdated — especially for the cost. Recently, though, the resort began an extended refurbishment project aimed to update the decor.
Recently, Disney’s construction efforts were focused on updating the DVC Resort Villas in the Big Pine Key building. So, what do these new rooms look like? Let’s take a look!
As of March 3rd, 2022, current DVC members could book a new DVC room at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. Sales opened to the general public back on March 31st, 2022, and now the rooms are officially open!
Back in March, we were able to take a peek at the rooms, so let’s go!
We were given a preview of a Resort Studio room. The room features touches of decor inspired by Mary Poppins Returns.
Inside, there are two queen-size beds, built-in closets, and a murphy bed.
The closet has a full-length mirror — perfect for an outfit check before you hit the parks!
We found lots of Mary Poppins-inspired art and decor all around the room. As you can see, the sofa…
…folds down into a bed!
One of our favorite parts of the new room was this chandelier with glass birds lining the outer ring of the light. Isn’t it beautiful?
The bathroom area is well-lit and very spacious. On the right, you’ll find more Victorian-inspired artwork.
These updated rooms are officially open at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort! We’ll be sure to keep our eyes out for any major construction progress, so stay tuned for more!

Ugh. Nobody saw the Mary Poppins sequel. I really wish Disney would stop re-theming areas of their most iconic resort to include this DOA IP. Just let the Grand be grand!
I absolutely agree with you! Sick of it, I don’t see much “Victorian” in any of these so-called “themes”. The Grand is exactly that, “The Grand”. The rooms as they exist now are horrible while the previous style of peaches and ceiling fans was a perfect fit for the resort. Why is Disney killing their flagship property with this mess?
Looks nice enough, but the color palate is too “cold” and feels slightly sterile. Enough with the grays and blues already. Also, the glory days of the Grand Floridian are long over. If you’re considering buying into it, or more points, it’s not worth it. Everything that made the GF so lovely, and beautiful has been eliminated or changed. No more GF Orchestra, Mizner’s (still waiting to hear what Beauty and the Beast has to do with “old Florida”), 1900 Park fair, and Magical Express is gone. I say all of this as an owner at the GF Villas too.
Thanks for sharing! Do they rooms also have the kitchenette with a sink, microwave, and mini fridge?
